The first five of the "Two Minutes To Action Training Missions" have finally been published on Mission4Today and I wanted to let everyone here know.

So much fun they made "Editors Pick" the first day! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The first five difficulty levels are designed to get new members of the community up and running with minimum frustration and to provide quik and fun missions for everyone else.

These are short missions (10-15 minutes each) organized by difficulty and designed to help the player improve his/her skill. There are 10-20 short, fun filled missions of all types in each difficulty level and are great for just having fun or for learning basic skills (taking off and landing on a runway; taking off and landing on an aircraft carrier; bombing ground targets; bombing shipping; shooting down bombers and more).

Don't let "Training Missions" fool you; while these missions are designed to train you to be the best that you can be they are still quite challenging at the higher levels.

None of the missions are based in history (except to match which planes and locations go with which countries). Eventually 10 difficulty levels will be offered.

I just realized that I never left the address to the "Two Minutes To Action Training Missions lvls:1-5 (Beginner-Intermediate)". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif So here it is now:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3358

Please point the newcomers to this link, as it has been well recieved by many so far (that was the main idea).

Other panes besides the F4U Corsair are being considered for the upper difficulty levels. If you have a particular plane to request please post it on the thread under the Mission Builder Forum at:

Hey cheers Blindman, I'm on my 3rd day of IL2 here and I've been doing the quick mission build so far for dogfight practice, but it's nice to get something new.

A miscellaneous US version of Difficulty Level 4 and 5 have been put together using the following planes:

B-25, F4F, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51 and P-63

They will be made available next weekend if all goes well. If you want to see something else added your time is running out.

If there is any audience for them then a miscellaneous UK and Axis version of Difficulty Level 4 and 5 will follow.

I do still intend to put together Difficulty Levels 6 10 but I am a bit burned out after 4 months of mission development on Difficulty Levels 1 5.

Cheers for the hard work blindman!,as far as axis I gotta admit I'd love for you to throw an FW-190 in there(maybe the A6 or the A-5 1.65 ATA for the maneuverability?) plus some BF-109's would be pretty cool and they're used a fair amount online and off as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
other then that keep up the good work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

Cheers and best regards to Blindman for this project! Great fun in creative scenarios.

I will definitly pick up the US pack and look forward to Difficulty levels 6-10 in due course. A most worthwhile addition to anyone's mission inventory.

Absolutely wonderful! These will be perfect for when you only have a 30 minutes and you want to get right into some action.

These will also help me practice my dive bombing.

Very Well done and most appreciated.

Excellent, thanks Blindman. I've really enjoyed the Corsair missions, but it's a plane I rarely fly. Looking forward to trying these out tonight.

Very good stuff! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I got the game about a week ago, and I've been using your missions to get off the ground. Very nicely varied missions.

I was wondering though: is there a time limit to the dogfights? Often I'll get a "mission failed" message after a while in normal dogfights ("a large blip on our radar is coming, take the fighters out") even though I'm not damaged and there's still other planes in the air.

No woes, though -- I'm enjoying it very much! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Gnomie, if the enemy planes make it back to base it will say that the mission has failed. I have tried putting a bunch of way points in to keep them in the area as long as possible, but some times they seem to just head home if no one is in the immediate vicinity to fight them. Getting mission objectives (Targets) to work properly (by my standards) has been my biggest problem. If you give me the level and title I will work on it and include it in the next update.

Thanks you all who have posted here for the feedback, I wasn't sure if they were going to be popular with the folks on this forum. I am guessing that most of the members here prefer the historical missions or are long time vets with skills beyond what I have put together so far.

I've been playing offline for several years, and do prefer to play historical campaigns. But sometimes you just want to get in the air and have a blast, and these missions have lots of variety for practising different skills.

Thanks again, I'm enjoying the RAF missions at the moment!

Why does the first mission of the UK version crash immediately into the structure in front of the plane.

Is it my difficulty setting that causes this or my engine is on when the mission starts ?

Really nice missions. Some of the best Ive flown in the 3 yrs Ive played the game. Could be strung into a campaign.

Way to go.

Chris, which mission are you talking about? I just checked the 1st mission on both level 4 & 5 (Attack and Destroy German Convoy & Attack German Harbor) and I didn't have any problems getting the planes started and off the ground. There is a German ship bombing mission where the wind blows you off the runway if your not carefull.

If you are still having troubles let me know the level and name and I will do my best to fix it.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

I'm back working on Difficulty Level 6 and hope to have it ready to add to the first five levels in a couple of weeks. I keep dying while testing them, so they should be more of a challenge for all you aces.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Hey Blindman-, I just want to throw out a big Thank You for these missions! They are an excellent addition to this game and should be on anyone's list of must have missions. I've had to lay off flying for the past 4 or so months due to work-related travel, but finally got back to playing tonight. I went straight to your missions to brush up on my rusting skills. They are just perfect for gradually ramping up the difficulty and I had a blast tonight. Again, thanks for your hard work!

Blindman-

Thank you Chris and ar****e for your supporting comments; they have given me motivation to get back on task.

At the moment I can not decide if it would be best to first convert these new missions to the Misc. US , Misc. UK and Misc. Axis Versions or to start work on level 7 of the Original Version. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Chris0382

Ide convert these into a campaign for USA born Pilot-X who is called in secretly to fly for all the countries in WW2. Due to some conspiracy, the USA even lends the pilot to the Japan and Germany or he gets captured and forced to fly for the axis or gets injured and ends up with amnesia and thinks he's German or Japanese etc. and flys for them.

All around great missions and could be strung together.

Creating level 7 missions is another matter so I think it would be best if you could produce those instead.

Again, thanks for these! I flew dogfight mission on level 4 tonight. Good fun and I really need to aim better when it's just machine guns (P51s v FWs)!
