I just got 1946 and it works well. However, I was disappointed not to see a mission involving the german battleship Tirpitz. I want to test FAA Martlets, Hellcats, and Corsairs against Bf-109's and FW-190's It would be really cool if someone worked up the Fairey Barracuda, the standard FAA dive bomber of the period.(The Barracuda was a piece of ****, far worse than the SB2C and considering how bad the Beast was, the Barracuda was a scandal

Hi there.

Icefire created a Tirpitz map for Ukdedicated 2 server.

I love it. Reds objective is to destroy the Tirpitz and destroyers protecting her with flak in port.

Blue has to try and attack the Reds carriers and fleet.

The planeset works very well, I believe its

Luftwaffe:
Bf109G-2
Bf109G-6 Late
Bf110G-2
FW190A-5
Ju-88A-4
He-111H-6

Royal Navy:
Seafire Mark L.III
Corsair Mark II
F6F-3 (Hellcat Mark I)
FM-2 (Martlet/Wildcat Mark IV)
Beaufighter Mark 21 (subbing in for the Mark X)
Mosquito Mark FB.VI
Avenger Mark III

Targets:
Royal Navy need to sink the Tirpitz (100%) and other ships (75%). The Luftwaffe needs to sink the Allied fleet (75%).

Reds have a bit of a tough time sometimes regarding planeset, but thats only natural when its a carrier air force vs a land force. The COrsairs/Seafires/Martletts actually hold their own very well with the top GErman fighters. ALso they have a far better ground strike force in order to win the map, providing they use some teamwork and escort the heavyly loaded attack planes with fighters like the Seafire. The planeset is an unusual one but it leads to some classic battles.

If Icefire is around he will explain more about this map, its a classic. He has constantly tweaked it to get a great experience for both teams. I believe he also remade it with a sequel too.

EDIT found the development thread for the sequel :-

vpmedia made a Tirpitz mission pack, 7 single missions, either British or German. Excellent, by the way. here's the link:
