View Full Version : Need Help From Someone Familiar With IL-2 Orignal and/or Cmnd mp_dotrange

When I go to chat(SHFT TAB);mp_dotrange cmnds (sort of)ignored. Entering "mp_dotrange DEFAULT" will echo values back,but they're not the default values. Entering "mp_dotrange FOE TYPE 2." echos back FOE unchanged values.Getting weird startup msg.s in log.lst(ERROR sfs: SFS library (3do04.sfs) NOT Mounted: Unknown SFS error: 3do04.sfs). Have same conf.ini,rcu,il2Stab.rcu as in Pacific Fighters version. Here's the log.lst:

Here's my il2Stab.rcu(for mp_dotrange values). It looks(from log.lst) that it understood my FOE NAME .005;but nothing else. B4 anyone suggests it; I have 1946(modded to UP2.0 and V4.10), I just like to play the original game(modded to 1.02). Thx

What OS are you using? Have you tried putting semicolons between the individual lines in your .rcu file?

Not sure what u mean. Do u mean to comment out one of the lines or as a spacer between lines(not sure what that what do.)?

Yeah, it's just a hunch, but try putting a semi-colon at the end of each line, so:

I don't know much about Stab, but you say you have two rcu files (Have same conf.ini,rcu,il2Stab.rcu...). So tell me how that works. When you type in a dotrange command, wouldn't that activate dotrange settings in your non-Stab rcu file? That's how it works on my computer. However, you are posting the contents of your il2Stab.rcu file. Are you saying you expect THOSE dotrange settings to be activated at that time?

I'm thinking this is where your problem lies. Can you post the contents of you non-Stab rcu file?

**Again, I don't know much about Stab, but since it has it's own rcu file, I'm thinking it would automatically activate your custom dotrange settings every time you start IL-2. Is that an incorrect assumption?

Please post the contents of you non-Stab rcu file. I think you will find your answer there.

I have had the same thing working before, but it's on my other PC that's currently KO'd so I can't check whether I have the same setup. You put the line @file somethingsomething.rcu in your rcu file, fill that file with the mp_dotrange commands you want, and then the last line repeats the call to the file every 60secs so it keeps getting enabled even though the game goes back to defaults at the start of every sortie. I suspect the issue might be because the lines were not separated in the .rcu file the way they would be in the Java the game runs on, but I'm not 100%.

SOLVED.
I didn't think necessary to specify I was in QMB while trying to solve this;but it does matter. It(mp_dotrange cmnd) doesn't work in QMB;it does in Multiplayer;Coop(and I assume also Dogfight). I stress that mp_dotrange is recognized as a valid cmnd in Pacific Fighters, QMB mode.
Go Figure.

Well, I use my custom mp_dotrange in the QMB all the time and it never fails to load. It's worked fine for many years and still works fine in 4.10.

But if you're satisfied with your setup, all is good.
