The colors are a bit off - is this taken from an ATI graphic card?

Oh, and the trees are slightly undermodelled.

I also would like to see a WW2 motorway, not the one in this screenie with modern trucks and stuff. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

"But just look at the scenery!..hm..It looks ammazing...would Oleg's team complete this heavy task, and properly to represent such landscape??"

Nope not gonna happen!! I'll tell ya why.
Once Oleg 'n' Crew have modeled the landscape of the country whose landscape is modeled ( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif ) will churn up a lawsuit fer the theft of "truly public domain" terrain!!
The local office of engineers are bringing forth a lawsuit in which they say :"The roads, buildings and terrain are TOO accurately modeled to real life and that Her Majesty wants tribute and monetary compensation."
I have even hoid that the earthworm coalition is banding together because when bombs are dropped in a flight sim we are inadvertantly showing gratuitous death and macabre towards said earthworms. This and other animal coalitions have yet to speak up or bring forth charges!!
Mother Nature is even jumping onto the bandwagon stating that she: "Has copyrighted and trademarked the patterns of the meandering streams and rivers." So she is threatening to cut off ALL oxygen until an agreement/settlement has been made.

Hey I know lets ALL band together and copyright/trademark the periodic table of elements.THAT way ANYtime ANYone uses ANY of the elements fer ANY reason we can all get fat!!

And if I'm not mistaken that bright yellow colour comes from fields of oil seed rape- which was not grown in England in the 1940s. It was introduced in the 1980s from North America and there was much comment in the Press at the time to the effect that the garish yellow was 'alien' to the English countryside...

The game delivers explosive fun for veteran and casual gamers alike, and occurs over a vast and living world below which will be forever known as one the world€s most decisive moments in history.

Ah, it wont be a competition to IL2 anyways, those screens look just a tad better then IL2, or maybe not actually. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Bob will look so much better than that, its gonna be tasty. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I see the WOV people have learned much from Oleg and the IL-2 series. They've taken Oleg's best features and added their own.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery indeed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Been reading about this, and rather than seeming to be direct competition, looks like a nice addition to my FS habit. It seems that WOV will not become a great online game, but rather has highly tuned AI for offline play, and that is where most players of the game will stay. That is according to the developers, who were also the creators of the Fire Power addon for CFS3. They are nice folks, and have been in here before . . . they are indeed fans of Oleg's simulation, and I am tickled to death that they are creating a game independent of M$.

that Rowan:BoB isn't supporting multiplayer on release.

However, it does have some items about it that I think 1C will need to make sure they improve on for 1C:BoB

I think there is a big market for offline play that 1C will need to make sure they improve upon to get more success. Certainly, I'm more of an online pilot, but I figure that me and 500 others on HL every night are still the minority.

What I can say:

You willnever see such behavior of planes in a group in our sims, like on this screen shot:

http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/bob/press/pr_1/smoothwave.jpg

But all in all it should be not bad sim comparing to MS CFS3 at least until our BoB.
But our release is not the same time. And we still will have some nice new features in IL-2+PF series http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

MERRY CHIRSTMAS OLEG AND TEAM!!!

I'm sure that BoB will be a blast once it comes out. Just, like you did with the original IL-2, release it once its fully ready.

Take care. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes - the aorcraft look like they are all stuck on a sheet of glass, so the whole formation banks in a turn.

One other point. The screenshot of the Shockwave BoB Bf-109 looks very good. In fact, there are so many polys that I am not sure this can be the external model from the game. Look at the nose area where spinner meets the fuselage. I would like to think it is possible to have that level of detail AND have good FPS, but it looks very detailed. We will have to wait and see.

I always thought that Rowan got away with CPU limitations on huge formations of AI aircraft by allowing the engine to handle them as a single object. Thus "flat" formations moving in perfect unison. But that's just a guess from a programming ignorant bystander.

No, they rather take their old Rowan BOB engine and rework some parts. It seems that a lot will stay unchanged compared to the original release. Just like it's been with the IL-2 series, but IL-2 had already been superior to BOB in many aspects when it first appeared.

They have always had some offline features that are not available in IL-2, and now they're trying to make the rest of the game acceptable by today's standards. We'll have to wait and see how much will really be new and improved. They don't have a mission editor, individual pilot careers or a decent multiplayer modus yet.

One thing that will be different from the IL-2 series is the ability to add non-official third-party mods.

The great thing with Rowan's Bob was the strategic management of the air battles, but it seems that this game it's just a remake of the old BoB with graphics and maybe FM reworked, so it should roughly be to Rowan's BoB what Forgotten Battles was to IL2.

The original 5 flyable planes will probably be the same: Spit, Hurri, 109, 110 and Stuka.

And yes, as far as I know BoB's engine treated formations as a single entity.
