Interesting stuff!

You should be able to them in the game.

Just make sure you have a lot of speed and energy bvefore you attempt them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The book is 'Britains Wonderful Fighting Forces' published by Odhams Press ltd circa 1941.

A slightly later edition of this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Britains-Wonderful-Fighting-Force...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Britains-Wonderful-Fighting-Forces-1940-Capt-Hawks-Rare_W0QQitemZ8396942401QQihZ021QQcategoryZ1127QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

A very interesting book, not least because I think it was aimed at boys coming up to school leaving age and was probably aimed to get them interested and set onto a career in the armed forces.

It is still a handy, if 'quirky' reference piece for post BoB info.

Still cant get that maneuver, been using a Hurricane. Good rudder control is surely essential here. Been using maximum force feedback to get a sense of the planes intentions (not sure if FF is THAT good).

Even with heavy rudder, still dropping out sideways or backwards, basically any which way but down on the tail.

Hope somebody has better luck (and makes a vid! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I remember doing an accidental tailslide when a celebatory loop went wrong.. turned into a tailslide into hammerhead into landing.. looked totally deliberate as I entered the intended loop after flying the length of the runway at around 100m. So when I came out of the tail slide I was at landing speed and lined up with the runway so just had to drop gear flaps and set her down.

Sadly was ages ago and don't have a track.

Tailslides are very hard. You have to be dead vertical on the way in to get anything vaguely resembling a tailslide, after that use the rudder.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Tailslides are much easier now after 4.xx, although I've seen tracks with FW-190s in tailslides in 3.xx. I'd never made a decent one before 4.00, at least. They're a bit easier in the biplanes, if you want to give it a shot.

A decent falling leaf maneuver is all but impossible in the sim, however. I don't know if there are any sims that model to enough fidelity to really allow it, although IL2 is almost there. You can keep a couple of the planes level in a stall for a couple seconds if you're real quick on the rudder, but it won't wag the wings like that no matter what you do (remember that aileron control will probably reverse in the stall, if you try -- use the rudder). Virtual beer to anyone that can do one in a Spitfire.

EDIT -- Hmm... falling leafs are much easier post-4.00, too. I'll have to confess that I hadn't tried one lately. If I had rudder pedals I might almost pull it off. Still, it doesn't count unless I see wingtip contrails. :P

OK for that manvoure you are trying to do, I would think this would work (But I havent tried it)

Use a Spitfire MkIX as then you have good power and manouvrability.

Throttle up to about 450k and pull straight up, cutting the throttle once you are pointing at the sky.

Have the plane very slightly nose down from the sky, so that when it stalls and falls, the nose drops forwards. Push down a little of the elevator too so she falls backwards and then 'nose downs'.

Now just fly down and recover your speed unitl you an pull up again.

Make a track so you can watch from outside http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have to try this soon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Some of those maneuvers look pretty painful. Inverted loops and the like. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I used to do something similar in the P-40M, zoom along on at 0m above the runway at 400km/h+ once you reach the end of the runway pull up vertical, should be able to get around 1000m before it stalls out, now drop flaps, gear and switch off engine at the peak of the climb, then when it its the 'hang' point, put full upward elevator and try and make it flip over in a sort of backflip or somersault, then it should be pointing nose downwards, so just flick it around the right way and glide in for a perfect dead stick landing.

In theory anyway, the backflip was fiendishly hard to do, you had to be absolutely, exactly dead straight and level and the right amount of everything to the millimetre. Otherwise it would fall off to the side, or enter a spin and look **** or crash. I spent hours practicing aerobatics like that but could still only pull it off right only 5% of the time, mostly through luck than any real skill it has to be said. Flying aerobatics is good fun though, a chance to really enjoy pusing the machine to it's limits without someone else trying to shoot you you in the process. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If you don't cut power, you'll never get a nice tail slide going. Do it before hitting minimum rudder effectiveness speed.

You slap the disc in the drive and tell it to merge install, not stand alone. IIRC all you need is what you have short the patches after the install of PF.
