View Full Version : How many people will pull a "sickie"

03-12-2005, 03:13 PM
Just wondering how many people will do it, or have done it before on game release days.

I can't say I've ever done it but I have booked holiday for major releases in the past of software and hardware.

Work ethics?

Not too many were I live, I hope. I'm in medical profession and I would like to have some time left for SHIII.

I have pulled a sickie before, that was for Forgotten Battles. rang them up and said I had a bad stomach, lol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif it was worth it.

I can't do it for SH3, though. Cos I have just started a new job, and I can't pull a sickie because I still have to make a good impression...... d*mn! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

the store I reserved my copy at doesn't open until 10.. I have class from 11-1, so i can wait the 2 hours, and then I have until Friday afternoon =D

I work from home, no need to pull a sickie. As for the past, i have never pulled one for a computer game.

All I can say is:

Not too many companies I know of have a favorable outlook on this kind of behavior.

I prefer to use a "paid day off". Sick days are too valuable.

Did it for Episode 1,2, and will do it for 3.
Xbox launch as well. For a game....nah.

It's called a "Mental Health Day". You'd be surprised how sinking 10,000 tons improves the mental health.

Haven't got a job at the moment so I'm ok http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Although being a bum is getting boring.

Who will actually be sick is the question, while playing the game. My brother in law suffers from motion sickness when just playing FPS, so playing this game in bad whether would make him throw up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You know, I was just thinking about that.

HL2 actually made me blow chunks during that 'buggy' level.

I can fly, and I don't get sea sick, but it's the motion inside the sub I'm worried about.

I also 'almost' lost it at the Star Trek adventure simulator in Las Vegas not too long ago as well. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I have booked 2 weeks holiday http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have put my holiday back twice now LOL, to be in time for SH3 release.

Sad part is though *sobs* that my fust days holiday starts on the 19th.

man o man I just wish that I had SH3 right now...me n a bokkle of JD n coke and SH3, what more can a man want ?

I will be spending more time in the Captains Cabin than I first thought.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/RedTerex/burp.gif

Please keep posting in those 2 weeks of yours Red.

I am taking 2 weeks off as well.

Although 'paid holiday', you could argue it's the biggest sickie I've ever pulled!

I'm tempted to book the friday off as holiday but I'm hoping to git my mitts on my copy before then if the post from Ubisoft is speedy.

It's Easter the weekend after anyway so might not bother with time off work as I should have plenty of opportunity to play SHIII for hours.

03-13-2005, 05:28 AM
sickies ? hehe, Im working from home :P Right hand monitor "SH3" Left hand monitor "work".

Suits me down to the ground for the long realtime playing that is coming up :P

03-13-2005, 02:36 PM
SH2 did that to me. I have 3 weeks off so I will take it for SHIII

03-13-2005, 02:49 PM
SPRING BREAK GOD I LOVE YOU, BEER, WOMEN, AND SHIII! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

03-13-2005, 02:55 PM
Prefer to use SHIII as a reward for 30min during the week and 6 hours at the weekend (after duties and kissing wifes *** 3 hours a day)

Nope! Wish I could take some vacation though!

03-13-2005, 05:52 PM
Well my sister's throwing up as I type (My room's right next to the bathroom so I can hear it) So I might not need to 'play' sick.

03-13-2005, 05:53 PM
Two weeks with nothing but SH3...

Its going to be so great!

03-13-2005, 06:17 PM
Will be taking Friday off after the Wednesday release. Vacation day of course. First time I have ever taken the day off for a game release. But then again...I have never anticipated a game as much as I have SHIII!

03-13-2005, 09:27 PM
Man I wish I could I start a new job tommorow the 14th, So no sick tricks for a while. Will have to settle for Evening patrols only http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

03-13-2005, 09:40 PM
... I took the whole darn week off.

03-13-2005, 09:57 PM
I would try to, except they would make me go to sick-call (friggin military...) Might just have to take a day of leave instead..

03-14-2005, 04:00 AM
I'm currently mulling the idea of having the friday afternoon off, nice longer weekend plus more time to mess about with SH3 in peace. Thats if it arrives on time otherwise I might be using the holiday to go down to the shop and buy it. Could always be generous and give the extra copy to a friend so we can have some fun in multiplayer.
