I got mine on 7-th of april, and i can already say this - as a mud mover with experience i'm glad to have this craft in my arsenal! But... I found 2 bugs which seriouselly bother me.
1. Kurland campains do not start any more
2. my tailfins were shot out, but rudder still works.
now to the pleasantries: Flying this plane makes me believe that it it used to be a fighter. In a short combat i managed on a 110 series to shoot down 190, 109, 87, one each. as usual - shkas seems to be an ultimate solution... only serious and worthy of use bombload is 1,5, although other types are used. in diving most serious prob is the SPEED. brakes are basically ineffective. Any comments welcome, if someone feels a need to say something about this matter, i might be wrong at some statements..

Yeah, i noticed, but this game makes me feel so much as divebombing Lexington with 12 Pe-2, so i cant hold and share this with everybody...

Pe-2 is wonderful, if u use brakes in time -- SPEED is not a problem, btw Pe-2 its not outdated Stukas -- it was modern high speed universal bomber at 1941 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif So, high dive speed helps u stay alive -- u complete ur attack faster. Also when u release bombs on max diving speed -- u can snipe any target http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But ofc some experience required! Thx for great addon! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd say that it is a fighter with light mg's and capacity to have a great bomb load, rather then bomber. sniping is not of serious consideration with 500 bombs, when i dropped a couple of 'em at the full railroad station it blew half of the town up.
On the other hand i serioselly plan to built a mission with american carriers in the Baltic.
High speed attacks either lead you dropping bombs in "that general direction" without actually seeing the vehicles you have to destroy or to blowing your self up.

Ju-88 vs Pe-2? Which one is a better dive bomber?

well, the Pe2s will be most propably a lot faster, climb better and turn tighter than the Ju88 ........... so my bets would go to the Pe2 .

all other things dont count in game and/or are not modelled.

Pe-2 has level speed advantage but Ju-88 could carry much higher bombload (usually like 2x1000kg), had longer range, and the stuvi-sight.

ps. I don't think Pe-2 was used as a fighter, atleast not against other fighters. Would have been cannon fodder in that role.

Lets say that 88 was a pure bomber set to fighter duty, while Pe-2 was pure fighter set to bomber duty. Incidents of Pe-2 attacking enemy aircraft was by far not uncommon, and agressive and well trained Pe driver could hold its own agains 2-4 fighters, what was proven in combat, espetially against other bombers.

Not sure though if a variant exicted. But when 46 will be out there will be Tu-2 which could carry up to 2 of those and was used in 2-nd Russian-Japanese war espetially for attacking shipping at Rasin and Seisin Ports. Pe-2 is good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif, but I would still love DB-3 more. But it seems like my feeling are going to be hurt. Oh well, life is full of s.it, and then you die...

Hmm Afaik PE-2 had the same problems as BF-110, it was a poor dog fighter, because it's roll rate was terrible.. Turning circle was ok for a twin engine plane.

I don't have 4.05 yet, but just wondering about Pe-2's structural strenght, I've read many times early in the war it had serious problems with bad quality construction, sometimes it even breaking up on diving attacks. It probably got better as the war progressed, i'd imagine. Finnish ace Ky√¬∂sti Karhila shot down a PE-2 with only three rounds over Estonia, so speed was definately PE-2's way out of trouble, it was not good at taking damage.
