Hi everyone - Im new around here, I've checked some topics but couldn't find one, So please dont be harsh on me if this has been asked before,. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In a interview with Jade Raymond I heard her saying that they would add some kind of RPG-element to the game.

She say's something like "You kinda level up and you can get new cool weapon's, New ablities"

It's been on my mind for a while now, This doesn't seem like a RPG game, Anyone know if this? Do you level up 1, 2, 3 etc? And "New abilities" aswell.

Anyone know anything about it?

the way I see it is between assassination you get new weapons... and if you help civilian they can provide you with a new type of protection... I THINK it will not be more than this... I hope i'm wrong :P

Ive seen the interview to and Jade definately says the exact words "you level up".

But how much you get to customise your abilities and stats we will have to wait and see.

It might just be that as you practice and perform things more you become more skilled at them.

maybe it just give you more "free-blocking"...

dont think it will be a full scale RPG thing because YOU WILL be desapointed...

It definately won't be a full scale RPG, it will just have some features. I'm not knocking RPGs I love them as much as anything!

My guess is that the leveling up/skill will be sort of like Elder Scroll's. As in when you jump, run, attack, as you do these things your skills and attributes will go up.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Somewhere she also said that in the first level you have everything. Then you lose all of it have have to try and regain all of your abilities and weapons.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I like that style of leveling up. The skills you use the most improve the most rather than killing everything with a sword then increasing your spell-casting abilities.

If they want to avoid the usual stats pages of traditional RPG's it could be done invisibly, like the increasing stamina in GTA games. If you run around loads then your stamina will increase, but you don't get a page that says you have increased from 50 to 60, you can simply run further in game before having to catch your breath.

It would be best if the leveling up(stats, like stamina, and so on) were hidden from the eyes of players(US!!!).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Maybe it's like in Spiderman 2 where the more of the game you complete the more moves you get, or maybe it's like Shadow of the Colossus where your stamina grows. Ok so maybe you can't shoot fruit from a tree in the middle of a wonderland patrolled by 16 Colossi. But maybe you can steal food from market stalls and the harder they are to steal from the more stamina you get from the food. That would be a kewl attachment to the game.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'd rather it not be so RPGish (not that I don't like RPGs) . This game looks like it's meant to be realistic, and having a sheet which tells you your exact stats isn't realistic.

Th3_Assass1n
12-10-2006, 01:24 PM
No, I don't fancy that you could actually see your stats, but meybe they could be there somwhere, deep under the visible actions going on on the screen.

Maybe the stats went up very fast, but you needed lots of them just to improve in that exact thing you use the most. I mean that if you wallrun very much, Alta´r would become better at it.
You get my point?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'm seeing just getting better weapons i thought she said you rank up in the assassin's order not actually leveling up and yea it's not very realistic to lose all your abilities because you screwed up once that doesn't make much sense and when you do things you get better at it... maybe you yourself as a player gets better at it.... not Altair... but i heard after you complete missions you start to rank up in the 'guild' (for lack of a better word) and get better weapons and new clothes to show your status

I would like to see a leveling system somewhat similar to Spartan:total war ( emphasis on the word somewhat)where after each part or in altaÝrs case an assassination you would gain health and armour but in assassins creed you would gain experience such as being able to more effectively dodge attacks, climb or kill and so on plus gain something else as a bonus. i dunno im just typing my thoughts so its probably a lot different :P

might be better to do it like TES: oblivion where you level as you do what you do. then if you do lots of jumping but little swordplay you will be brilliant at leaping but might get skewered fighting 12 guards.

guys... I'm certain it will not be something like this!
PR for a game always exagerate things... they said RPG elements but it will probably be something like this only :
after x number of assassination = you get better weapon... (storyline maybe...)
do side quest and have new ability... like merging with a group of monk... if you helped them...

forget about becoming "better" and have ultra advanced stats developpement...

those are things a press relation people will tell as "rpg element"... to create HYPE.

Don't forget about it!
Don't get me wrong, i'd love to get proved(thanks for the correction ;P )wrong!

despite the spelling, Ipscrispo has a point. The game is suposed to made as realistic as possible, so an RPG element wouldnt fit into the type of game that AC is supposed to be. unlocking weapons and upgrades makes more sense because only you accessories are getting better, and not necessarily the person who uses them.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Does the game include RPG elements where you can improve the Assassin's abilities?

Jade Raymond: Yes. One of our designers is a massive RPG fan and one of our goals was to achieve the satisfaction of levelling-up. A lot of really cool rewards spring from our RPG elements. You start out the game as a Master Assassin with all of your abilities, and at the end of the first mission your rank is stripped away. And then you spend the rest of the game completing missions and trying to regain your previous standing with the Assassin clan. The RPG elements are very much tied into the story. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

i read this a min ago

oh and it makes sense for the person to get better at what he's doing practice makes perfect y'know? but not to an extent where you're lookin at a spread sheet where you're climb ability is 60 and your attack is 109 that's just gay and should definately not be part of the game

this part of the quote is very very important I say...
ok, maybe you will get up in rank ( rank = level maybe ) but it will all be tied to the story = more like Zelda than Final Fantasy... wich is not a bad thing... I LOVE ZELDA!

you do something, you get an item, or a new friend wich can grant you access somewhere...

again I say... PR is always about turning thing to their advantage, trying to get more people wanting the game!

The only confirmed "lvl up" type of stuff is the ability to sustain a bit more damage from non-mortal blows/wounds. As Altair completes objectives and makes his kills, he will "remember" how to handle damage/pain better.

Well if you remember that this is a person looking back at Altair's life through genetic "MEMORY" (key word there) as he remembers more stuff about Altair you will in turn be able to do more things also because he remembers "Oh yea Altair can do that" and then Altair will then be able to do that

I dont think its going to be like leveling up, as in increasing your stats, but if you remember in the demo, he used the monks to help him disguise because he helped them earlier in the game... I think that in the game you will just complete missions that will help you in the game and make it easer to do stuff, giving you support, allies, and other elements to help you beat harder missions easier.

SweetLou280man
01-06-2007, 03:48 PM
I totally agree with you Snowboardnlv. I don't think it will be like a Tony Hawk game or a regular RPG where there is are bars that fill up. It will be more of a smooth, realistic leveling up, where you make friends/enemies and find that you can do more things better.

It would be really gay if some person started just "remembering" Altiar's abilities. when the person is remembering the story, you would think that he/she would remember that sort of suff from the beginning, not just keep adding to the character throughout the story and instead giving a detailed description of the apperarance and abilities of the character at the beginning.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

He wouldn't remember at the beginning because he's abstracting these memories from his genes he's not going to have them all at once and as he gains more of the memory he'll remember more about Altair and what he's capable of and in turn you'll be able to do more in the game i'm not saying that's definitive but i'm sure i read that somewhere i'm not pulling this out of the sky atleast a hint at it

Hmm, i have an Idea maybe the weapons system will be like that of Hitman Blood Money or somthing. I mean that was pretty sweet, lightweight sniper rifle makes your shots more accurate with less recoil, i dunno maybe a lightweight crossbow? somthin to think about anyway, i think about this game like everyday i cant get it off my mind... cant wait to play it.
