Hi, I'm new and I apologize if I put this in the wrong section http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Today, I was doing a test that involves the book 1984 by George Orwell. The test wasn't exactly the most exciting thing and the release of AC II doesn't help! So I thought...what if the Party was the Templar Order and Goldstein an assassin? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Then I came up with a horrible story of how the Templars and Assassins have been fighting each other over the years but unfortunately the Templars have grown way out of hand and the Assassins are in danger (of extinction http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif ) so they must hide.

The Party's constant surveillance of their citizens would be to detect assassins and getting rid of people who commit thoughtcrime.

What also made the connection between AC and 1984, was during the part when O'Brien was torturing Winston (the 2+2=5 part. If you try hard enough, you'll believe it reminds me of the Piece of Eden for some reason).

Then in the end I thought, would the AC universe become like Oceania if it was conquered by the Templars?

Sorry for bombarding you with my horrible story! (damn...do I sound like a noob?)

haha no i actually found that very entertaining. 1984 is one of my favorite books, but i never thought to make that connection. you found some interesting parallels. if you have played the first AC, the final fight kind of reminds me of the time winston spends in captivity (only winston eventually succumbs, where as altair prevails) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif oh and welcome to the forums http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

indeed you have banged the nail on the head of the influences, the zeitgeist if you will of the conflict, although it is a little juvenile, and not at all true.

The influences run in the same vein, and that is basically what the party had attained in 1984, total control, complete obliteration of will, use of a scarcity based propaganda machine to break the wills of those whom would oppose.

It was more of a torture kill ruin your name thing in 1984, not a collect alien artifacts to try and take over the world angle.
