Each day new clue (up to 4 until someone gets it).

Who am I?

1. I come from a family with some military history to it. My Great-Great Grandfather served in the Franco-Prussian war and was decorated during the conflict.

2. I was born in 1921. Upon seeing a flying demonstration of First World War pilots, I became infatuated with aviation and knew that flying would be my dream career.

Born 1921, hm, he would have been only 19 when the war broke out. It's probably not an early war pilot. Most of the WWII aces was born around the time of the Great War.

3. I got my first aerial victory 18 August, 1943, during the Peenemunde raid. I went on to get over twenty more. (Obviously I cannot tell you the exact number - that would be too easy!)

4. Postwar, I flew commercially and completed 1406 crossings from Europe to North America. I still fly for my own pleasure today (as of 2004 anyway). The English edition of my memoirs was published in 2003. And finally, Here I am discussing Schrage Musik for a documentary in 2004.
