Thw English language is very clear of course...but I'm not sure if it needs to be as fast as the speed of sound...but I may be corrected in time.

It only counts if you land after though, whoever invented the whip actually broke it first if you want to be pedantic.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I used to read the 'Commando' comics like that.

I am guessing it is Finnish or Duth??

Why do German pilots always say "Mein Gott" when they get hit, the same happened in commando comics.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Actually cro-magnon cavemen developed the whip whose tip can break the sound barrier... they were pushing the envelope way before the British...

It's a good point, But quite technically, The spitfire had to dive to break the sound barrier, The X-1 only claims the title of first plane to break the sound barrier in level flight.

So both are correct, unless I can prove my theory that a P-26 Peashooter managed a supersonic dive that ripped both wings off, but still left the fuselage on a course that broke Mach 1.

And the bloke didn't even have the common courtesy to fix the barrier after he broke it. Very "friendly", mate

Most WWII rifle rounds travled at 1200-1300mph at sea level more then enough to break the sound barrier.

TB-3 broke the sound barrier first. It was powered by 4 hyperdrives on each wing and it has multiphasal shield. Max speed is around warp 3. In a fact it's the fastest plane ever build by humans http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)))<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
