Seeing the screenie's in the US pre-order page, I think the P-80 will be totally devastating!!

In comparison with the Me-262, I think it is lighter, a bit more aerodynamic, better reliability for the engine, better acceleration and better agility. the Me-262 might be faster and has a more devastating armament.

Altough... having observed the effectiveness of 6X .50 in the P-40 and the P-51 at convergence, I think the P-80 will pack a serious punch because the 6X.50 will all be centered within the nose!! So with the convergence issue virtually solved, and the speed and agillity, I think the P-80 will be the new ruler over the virtual FB skies!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Am i right or not? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You've got a point... just like with the Me-262 currently. But, we always could have ourselves a nice jetfighter room. WIth the P-80 and the Go-229/Me-262.

To be honest, I think the P-80 will open servers up! Sure most will stay "pure" and ban oddballs like the P-80 and Go-229, but then there will be jet servers! Think about it this way. Before Aces, we only had 1 jet and 1 rocket. Not very fun. Now we have 4 jets and 2 rockets! We also have other oddballs like Ta-152 and 109Z.

I also thing there will be more "crap plane" servers once the add-on pack is out because it adds quite a few 1938-1940 crap aircraft like Cr.42, IAR-80, and Hawk 75. Mix in P.11 and I-153 and you got yourself a airball server! much fun to be had in Aces.

I think the P-80 will be nice to fly and will probably have better handling than the 262.
BTW last time I was in the States I stayed on the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls Montana, they've got the trainer varant (T-33?) there. They've got some other very nice aircraft too.

I was allowed to do maintenance on a T-33 at the school I was in at that time. I can tell ya, these planes aren't made for the mechanics!! A collegue of my accidentally started a fuel booster pump and was almost thrown out of school. The manual said it needed 600 or 800(!) amps of external power to start-up the engines. I guess after that, they designed the engines to start-up with pneumatics.

Just what Gibbage said...Ace expansion will have all sorts of cool things for everyone. All jet servers, more early war servers, all sorts of options now suddenly available.
