Hi All,

I decided to try to build my own missions. Who wrote the manual? This is worse than trying to decifer a tax return form. It's far from being user friendly.

Has anyone ever seen a rewritten version, something with a little more detail or at least understandable? I would appreciate any info, while I still have a little hair left.

It isn't that bad... I do agree it could have been better but the real problem you are challenging are really in making nice missions.

The beauty with the manual is that it is short and still has the important technical details.

What it doesn't cover is how to avoid collisions or other stupid features such as sea-planes crashing into the ocean.

Here is a link where you find some info:
Eastern Skies . . . and the IL-2 User's Guide
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/il2guide/fmbguide/intro.htm

Look for FMB guide in the left column.

Good luck

Thx for the link Petter. Somehow I must be doing something wrong. I wanted to place a homebase. I open objects, click on home base, find my position on the map with the cursor, press Ctrl and the left mouse button, and viola! Nothing happens. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

What am I missing? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Maybe there's no airbase close enough to where you click? The homebase object can only be placed on existing airbases. Also remember that this object is only needed in online dogfight maps and has no function in coop or single player missions.

Another unsolved mystery solved. I guess that was my mistake. I wanted to strategically place air bases to suit the imagined mission. Thx plumps. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There used to be a website called "Sturmoviktecknica" or something close. They had a whole full mission builders guide that was very good. I don't know if their website or pages are still up anywhere or not. I printed the whole manual they had. If you can not find it yourself maybe I can mail you a copy of what I have.

Ok I found my old papers, It was at http://ham.dogfighter.com/sturmovik

The old website was "STURMOVIK TECHNIKA"

They had about a thirty page FMB guide written by a guy named Sotka. NOw this was written in 2001 and it has been over two years since I downloaded and printed it out. I know the website lost it's host and moved or something and they may be caput now, i dont know, Once you have the basics down you don't have as much drive to keep up on current web activity. With some research this guide may be still out there. Post on the forum for info on the old Sturmoviktechnika site. If it comes down to it I can copy the guide and mail it. It is probably one of the best guides for this ever, with step by step laymans examples and screenshots.

Tag Jumoschwanz,

I do a lot of file sharing with other guyz. Some are pretty big. We use MSN and the winrar format. It's quick and easy. If you use MSN just add me to your contact list and since I keep strange hours we'd probably meet online. I would probably also have many interesting files or movies you might want and I'm always happy to share. ttbfranzen@hotmail.com

BTW, a certain mod told me I have to remind people of copyright laws. There, I've done it. The mod made me do it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Is that ok Tully?
