i am alittle bit worry about this, because the online pacific map wiht it is unecesary quantity of high ress palm trees drops ours fps to an untolerable point, i hope u are careful on your map making or many of us will just waste money when we buy this, dunno how the others feel about, but many of us i know we dont go into the islands because our fps will drop and wont be able to aim at the enemy, hope u use the way maddox has make their forrests wiht the strange looking and sometimes invisible trees, doesnt look much nice at close distance, but sure doesnt bother our fps, or just add an take trees out options, and place sometime realy low ress like a one side picture to tell us dont to fly low or we will crash

quote:
or just add an take trees out options,

Right now in FB Pacific Map we can Destroy all the palm trees with the FMB destruction slider. No more fps hits--Destroying them takes them out of the mission. Nothing left, not even rotting logs.

However, I do say the palm trees placed around the two airports in the FB Pacific map are ~very~ Pacific~esque and immersive, and those few airport palm trees do not kill fps so much. The rest of the Pac Map's palm trees (over 3000 I counted them) can be Eliminated with FMB Destruction slider (instructions in FB manual).

Confession:: http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I counted all the Pac Map palm trees by looking in a mission text file and count the pages of Destroyed palm tree objects multiplied by the number of Destroyed palm tree objects listed per page.

It works, at least for offwhine missions. For onwhine I dunno, ask crazyivan.

Set Destruction brush size to maximum and Destruction percentage to maximum. Brush the whole map--all of it. To get the palm tree objects around the airports back (they are nice), reduce brush size and set Destruction percentage to minimum. Brush airports.

bah, forgot about that, but still, when we get the game, and we get the campains, we wont be able to do this to the maps, so still thats my thing to worry about

I think I already replied on this in some other thread - can't find it now? Yup, I feel your pain with palm trees, we'll have some simpler ones instead of them, and we won't use nearly as many http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also in Config.ini set:

LANDSHADING=2

Some systems see a big (10fps)jump and you may be able to keep your palm trees.

Palm weren't nearly that common all across the Pacific anyways. If look at pictures of the Solomons and New Guinea, you'll see that the coconut palms often only appear in plantations. I think postcards and movies have given us a somewhat distorted idea of the prevalence of coconut palms in the Pacific.

The Pacific is a VERY BIG OCEAN encompassing wide diversity of climates and vegetation.

Well, I for one like the palm trees. I realize that some folks are flying on older rigs but that is exactly why the sim is so scaleable. The graphics options are there for just that reason. I worry about some of the posts I've seen where folks actually _complain_ about too much detail in the palm trees and such. What's next, whining that the elevators on the carriers hit fps, or worse yet that high detail levels are a bad thing. Let's keep it real guys, if it's time for new video card or motherboard/processor combo, hey- that's not the fault of the developer <ggg.> Personally, I hope that the level of detail in the new sim is insane, I'd like to see little guys running around the carrier deck, aircraft being pushed around while the wings are in the process of folding, the whole enchilada. As long as the graphics detail is scalable, as it is now in IL2FBAces, everybody should be able to play at their own level. It scares me though to think the new sim may well be "dumbed down" detail wise just because a few folks are running ancient hardware. All the best, Mike "Longhorn" Davis

ho no here we go wiht the whining acusation, dont be stupid please, the only thing i meant that when u buy a game and the updates shuld keep evrything on the same standars, yes much more detail is nicer, but u r the one who needs to be realistic, many of us cannot upgrade each time an add on or patch comes out doh?

I think we just met the Oleg's Pacific Map palm tree maker/map placer.

I too ~love~ the palm trees, like the few surrounding the airports like in FB Pacific Map. Well done, those. The others all over the map (all 3000+ trees) really freeze new computer when you fly close to them. I have a "newer" rig, and they do kill framerates bad. Other than that...

I used to trim hundreds of palm trees, the filthy Beasts--246 palm trees to be exact, I counted them at the ocean resort I worked at. Actually, I do have fond memories of related to palm trees. They were my own responsiblity to do keep them trimmed, and it was always a Joy to get requests from the permenent retired folks when they wanted a tree trimmed.

One Christmas an old lady, her husband was confined to living inside their trailer, and I talked about decorating her tree. It was a new experience decorating her (rather high) palm tree, and you could see the pretty lights from all over the resort. And I did it on the resort's time clock--was not supposed to and that was part of the Fun. The tree became quite a popular hit with the retired folks it did. And it made the lady's day so I was Happy to do it. The old lady and I agreed that the "Story" will be that she decorated it herself. This was a shock to the other retired folks, and as some of them were on the resort Board of Directors, kept me out of trouble. Actually, it did finally come out I did it, but by then too many people had come to love the decorated tree. -- I did the decorating at dark just before I got off work, just after dark so few people saw me.

And one summer the Deal I made with the Boss was that once I get all the Palm Tree Objects (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) trimmed, I could take a week off and go get Hang Gliding training.

Hmm what are you guys talking about??

Why not change the tree model of IL2FB (the generic big forests) to pacific forests, with palmtrees included at maybe the edges in the simple tree/forest mode??

Single palmtrees are not the sollution, and if they are to be there, they gotta be just as fps friendly as normal single trees in fb!

Basta!
