In short, can you do it in this sim and damage a ship?

I've practiced and I can get bombs to skip and blow up next to ships at the waterline, but the only way I've ever sunk a ship or even damaged it was to give the bomb a 0 second fuse and hit the ship with it from a dive.

Any help out there?

You can do this, come in very low and very fast, drop your bombs and get out!
Also make sure the fuse is set to 0, or else it wont do anything.

Somewhere above 320kph (400 is nice). Mast hight or lower, drop farther away than you think. Delay has to be zero, unfortunately (RL was 4-5 seconds). Works fine, but it's impossible to get the strafers to do it as AI, sadly. I don't think it's deemed a problem, so don't count on that ever being fixed.

Actually you dont need to be that high at all. Tested it in the range of 200-400 ft .. works good.
But with timer set to 0.0, get the hell out ASAP (turn and climb).

Tested it and sank a Gato Class U-Boat with it. Was flying very fast and very low, delay set to 0, bomb made 3 splashed and hit U-Boat. It works, I'm not sure if the Uboat flak or the Blast hit me, though, but something did http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

when you'r at about 50m altitude, make sure the plane is level before you drop. If you'r not, the bomb may skip higher than normal and jump over the target.

Dart did some fantastic training movies on skip bombing. Check them out HERE. (http://www.darts-page.com/)

It works, but unfortunately I don't think we'll ever be able to follow historical attack profiles, i.e. mast-top height in twin-engine "strafers" like B-25 and A-20, 500 lbs. bombs with 4-5 second delay and no pullout after drop (imagine what a target you would make dropping all your speed and zooming up right over a target).

Here's a low-level bomb-attack profile from a site on Russian A-20s:

Thanks...I'll try it with zero fuse...that must be the key along with speed and altitude
