tell me what you think about this list:
assassinís creed II with ubisoft game launcher
Pros:

synced savegames
Cons:

you have to register for an account

you have to log in to play

you have to be connected with the internet during the game
assassinís creed II with crack
Pros:

you can do with your savegames what you want

you can play offline

you are independent from the ubisoft servers
Cons:

you have to install the crack

<STRIKE>itís illegal</STRIKE> (not anymore in the usa, brasil, sweden,Ö)
you can easily tell which one is the better product for everyone but people who rapidly swich between several places where they play the game (and who does that, anyway)

now look at this:
assassinís creed II with steam-like DRM
Pros:

you can do with your savegames what you want

synced savegames

you can play offline

you are independent from the ubisoft servers (offline mode)
Cons:

you have to register for an account

<STRIKE>you have to log in to play</STRIKE> (autologin)
best for any kind of player and also a DRM system which is as secure for the publisher as the current one (= it took about the same time to circumvent)

Just so you know, we do currently have a few threads about the DRM..

It's also still illegal to bypass any copy protection on games or software by using a pre-configured 'crack'

I'm guessing your referring to the 'The Digital Millennium Copyright Act' ?

Hate to correct people but it appears some people think the DMCA is a open invitation to bypass the DRM and to 'crack' the games and remove the Online Services Platform always connected requirement?

The DMCA only states that your able to do it yourself, without using any pre-prepared cracks or hacks - so hand editing the files ,for investigative purposes and for personal use only - it does not give people free reign to download 'cracks' or other software to help bypass the any game's DRM - even if you own a copy of the game.

So with that out of the way, I will have to remind people that any chat about how to bypass any of the copy protection used on any of ubi's games will still be removed from the forums as per normal, with users posting links to such things, facing suspensions.
