Still, I'd get the 262 first, then a 190, then a...well you get the point. One of each would do....

But why not spend $2 million and get a good plane?

Aesthetics must play into it and well, the Bearcat ain't attractive to some. Each to his own, of course http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You're nuts. And blind. And BTW, your polka-dot shirt doesn't go with your plaid trousers.

Anyone have $2,000,000 I can borrow? I'll pay you back I promise. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I've always loved that plane and it's far from ugly. It has a vicious predatory look to it.

I'd still get a Bearcat, it would just be down the list behind a Tigercat....

The Bearcat is a fine plane. But for some reason I loose interest if it did not see action.... even a teensie eansie little bit.

YP-80 I like. He-162. even the Dornier Twin. As they all saw a smidgen of action - I therefore think of them as a WW2 plane.

Bearcat - Fury - Hornet... Bah. Funny eh?

I wouldn't trust the wings on that thing. Do they still have the explosive charges in them?

i consider them ww2 planes as long as thay flew by the end of ww2.

Bearcats saw plenty of combat, but it was with the French and VNAF in the Nam.

I never said it was ugly, I said it was unattractive to some. For 2 million I think there are more attractive vintage warbirds to buy - for me.

Even if it has better performance than the others, given that you would never fly it to the edge of it's performance envelope once you owned it, aesthetics would have to play a MAJOR role in your purchase decision. If you love the look, then of course it's something you lust after. I'm just saying that there are others I would chase beforehand. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And lay off my plaid and polka-dot combos please.

I agree with Dubbo. As in, those combos...phwoar...

And for 2 mil, I'd rather a Kittyhawk! Or a Beau, or a Hudson, even a Mustang...(ad nauseum)

I still think the Hawker Sea Fury or LA9 are better aircraft.

I would get a FW190! Me and airmail almost got to see a Bearcat fly at Duxford in July but it had issues and didnt end up taking off. I saw it fly in 2003 didnt really like it much.

Seriously dude... Sea Fury was Uber... but Bearcat was better.

I'd buy a 190.

But hey - the Bearcat's half a 190/ half a Hellcat.
Half a 190's better than none at all ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Seriously dude... Sea Fury was Uber... but Bearcat was better. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>id rate the SeaFury as the least manouverable , biggest , & heaviest . but also a LOT faster than either the Bearcat (26 mph) or the La-9 (31 mph)

La-9 slowest (tiny bit slower than the Bearcat , between these 2 the more aerodynamic plane would hold the accell advantage)

Bearcats biggest feature was its insane climbrate - i have not yet seen ANY info on the Bearcats rol rate or tuning abilitys

using FB to DF with i use the verticle more than the horizontal , make of that what you will

I could be wrong and if so please direct me to a site or other material but I do not think the P-80 say any type of action in WW2.

If you mean it was being tested before the end of WW2 then I have to point out to you that so was the Bearcat.

Four YP-80As were deployed to Europe to demonstrate their capabilities to combat crews and to help in the development of tactics to be used against Luftwaffe jet fighters.

Two YP-80As were shipped to England in mid-December 1944, but one crashed on its second flight at Burtonwood, England, killing its pilot. Another was modified by Rolls-Royce to flight test the prototype of the Nene turbojet.

Two other YP-80's were sent to the Mediterranean. They flew some operational sorties, but they never encountered enemy aircraft.
