Let's hope for some of the odder, more interesting aircraft such as the A5M 'Claude' and Ki 27 'Nate'.

But let me just say that the Pacific, with an enhanced FB game engine, is a dream come true!

Yeah,I'm hoping for some lesser-known,overlooked planes as well. The P-35,P-43,Wirraway,and Boomerang are a few examples that come to mind.

We'll have 40 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif fliable planes..so..

If it follows the pattern of IL-2/FB/AEP of those 40 planes a lot will be variants of particular aircraft. I wonder which will be the Bf-109 and IL-2 of the game ? Any plane with possibly multiple variants ?

Here are some of the 40 which I am certain will be present:

1) P-40E
2) P-40M
3) P-39N
4) P-51B
5) P-51C
6) P-51D5
7) P-51D20
8) P-38J
9) P-38L
10) P-47D10
11) P-47D22
12) P-47D25
13) A6M2
14) A6M5a
15) Ki-84a
16) Ki-84B
17) Ki-84C
18-21) B-25's
22) Hurricane Mk.I
22) Hurricane Mk.IIb
23) Hurricane Mk.IIc
24) Spitfire Mk.Vb
25) Spitfire Mk.Vb (CW)
26) Spitfire Mk.Vb LF
27) Spitfire Mk.Vb LF (CW)

Notice that all of these we already have or are garunteed to get in the first AEP patch/upgrade. This leaves 13 new including the F4F, SBD, Seafury, Val and Betty. I have a feeling the Japs are going to get cheated of a few vitally important planes such as the Ki-61, A6M3 and Kate. Regardless, I have been wanting a new pacific sim for a long time now so I am cautiously optimistic. Or in other words I'm very pessimistic but am willing to caugh up the money so long as I can whine on the forums endlessly. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

Don't worry, the more important aircraft will be present, that's for sure.
Worry more about improvements on ships damage models, aircrafts and ships AI, carrier operations, and the possibility to have large fleets without having the pc "falling to its knees".
That's the only things i'm a little, very little, worried. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The full plane list will be made available in the future.

Please don't have a fit over something you think might possibly potentially be maybe not included.

The major players are all there, and we also have a few of the lesser known aircraft modeled. Of course we're not modeling every single plane that flew in the PTO, by far, and there are some important planes that we're unfortunately not making yet. However the plane list is quite long and varied, and I'm sure it'll provide a lot of very exciting gameplay on many different levels.

Hmm good point, I guess every single plane on our list can be considered a major player, with the exception of one or two maybe http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I guess I meant the planes everybody knows about - Zero, Hellcat, Corsair, Betty, Val, etc. At the same time while an SB2C or a Ki-46 for example were also produced in large numbers and saw lots of service, I guess it's a moot point if they can be called major players or not.

Absolutely correct. That John Wayne movie threw everybody off. Just shows how people are mis informed in history due to hollywood. The movie did get one thing correct though, the AVG primary opponent was the ki-27 and NOT the Zero. This is accurately dipicted in the film

I'd be disapointed if the major players weren't flyable but it sounds like they are and will be when we get the game so I have hope.

Do you have Rene Fancillon's fantastic book of Japanese aircraft of World War 2? The one thats got every single Japanese plane ever thought of, much less that actually flew? It is one of my most prized books on World War 2 aviation. It took Francillon about 15-20 years to complete and it shows. Highly recommended.

The 64th sentai (kato's unit) was the main JAAF fighter force in Burma. His unit originally was equipped with the ki-27. Late December 1941 was the first encounter with Hayabusas of the 64th sentai.

Any talk or rumors or better yet facts... indicating an early "F" or "G" model Lightning?

The J would do in a pinch, but those early Guadalcanal, Port Moresby and CBI days just wouldn't be the same without one....

F4U-4 Corsair is the American Uber Corsair...it had one of those 4 bladed Hamilton paddle blade props.... I read somewhere it could climb something like 4200+ ft/minute....that would be on par with the better climbing 109's! That is the one I'm really hoping for!!! I didn't consider it an "essential" aircraft, but if we're getting Southern Japan, Okinawa etc... I think it becomes essential http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Maybe we could get one of those F4U-1C's... you know... the ones with the 20mm cannons (x4)! I'm hoping the whole .50 caliber thing gets put to rest soon in a way that increases the killing power of the .50's....then I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I am afriad if Oleg transfer almost all of FB plane to FP with few planes add then everyone will said "Oh just same plane but different background", "That will be big rip off", "75% of PF planes are same old FB plane we played flying them", and "Hey it have FB aftertaste in FP candy!" So Why not get most of 1942 Pacific theme planes. P-39 are weclome since it saw heavy action in 1942. Ummmm. I would love to see Nomonhan Incident campaign with some plane like Curtis Hawk III, Ki-27 and K-10 plus I-16 and I-15. Hey, give some rooms to other forgetten planes like Boomerang, Beaufort, B-339C/D, and other plane like that. It will be sound more internatioal-able that most international customers would love to play it.

Hey Major player, give some room to minor power to playing campaigns plus room for forgetten planes.

Well, in means of damage inflicted, the Devastator did nothing at Midway. Unless you are willing to play a mission with 35/41 chance of getting shot down, presumably killed. The whole 1942 deserves to be dubbed "Dauntless Year"

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.

Well I dont know about you guys, but Im looking forward to the Kate Torpedoe Bomber.
Our Only opposition is the Wild Cat and the Zeros can handle them.
Just drop the torp at longer range before the Flak gets too heavy.
The Spits only saw action around Darwin, and from what I have read so far from Luthier and others the Major Planes of the IJNAF will all be there.
That means at least a few more model Zeros the Betty the Kate the Val Dive Bomber etc.

S!

Do you have Rene Fancillon's fantastic book of Japanese aircraft of World War 2?

I have that Rene Fancillon's book! It is quite an old book, but i have the revised version and it is kick as! Too bad there are no colour pictures in the book! It is the best book for Japanese planes both for IJN IJA! I recomended it entirely! If you find a copy, get it pronto!

When I was flying in CFS2 we split the Japanese aircraft into army and navy.

The Navy had the

Mitsubishi Zero A6M2 (Nice Fighter)
Kawanishi N1k2 (Fast fighter hard to fly)
Val (Dive bomber)
Kate (3 seater Torpedo bomber compares to the IL2)

And the Army had

Mitsubishi Zero A6M5
Ki43 (Great light fighter)
Kawasaki KI61 (Robust fighter)
Mitsubishi G4M2 betty (Bomber)

Later we had the Ki44 (Great boom zoom fighter, compares to P47)
Ki-84 (Superb fighter compares to George Kawanishi N1k2). But I don't understand why this was put into IL2 because it was hardly used in WW2. And is too much of a uper.

I think the US guys need the

f6F3 Hellcat and F4F4 Wildcat as general fighters. The corsair is a great match to the zero. And the Lightning is a really fun plane to fly and fly against. We did not use the P39 that much because it was too good a fighter but I think that needs to be added too.

If the dev team take a hard look at CFS2 and 'avhistory' http://www.avhistory.org/ and dont make a game full of upers I am sure this will be a great game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
