I wonder............? Maybe they are in fact rocket rails for Tankbusting role? look at other pics to see what mission is? Ground attack role.
Quite sure Tempests were cannon armed. Anyway how long do we need to wait for this update? looking forward to hearing those twin merlins on the Mossie and the Do335 not to mention the Tempest. Nice one guys, waiting in eager anticipation.

It has 4 20mm Hispano MkV's fully enclosed in the wings. The rockets rails, all bombs up to 1000lbs and Napalm were all approved for use however none of these were actually ever used in combat AFAIK.

Euh Tojo? You havent played this game a lot or your sound system must be really **** because all planes in PF seem to use the same sample from a much tortured leave blower as a engine sound. The sound engine is the thing I hope we get as a BoB test beta in some patch for PF soon.

Fairly certain that 1000lb bombs were infact used. I believe I have some inflight pictures of that. Rockets were approved but not used opperationally.

Doh! I hadn't thought about the possibility of that happening as Oleg tests BOB on PF. We can hope.

If you have please post them. I've own a video of a Tempest with a pair of 500lbs bombs and another with Napalm but these were both for weapons trails and both in slow motion which looks very cool indeeded (the bombs go right through a concrete wall.) but I've not seen any operational video or photo's of Tempests armed with either rockets, bombs or napalm.

The Tempest manual gives a max overload of 13,750 lbs with 2 x 1,000lb bombs on page 24 of the Pilots Note's.

On the same page it also notes that when flying with 2 x 1,000lbs bombs pre-stall buffeting is more pronounced.

Oleg said that our current sound is just fine. On a high-end sound system.
Mind you, a high-end sound system would probably even make this sound good too! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B000002W3P001007/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_007/002) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have it on good authority that the Tempest engine sounds amazing, especially with that boost on! Even more menacing than the Dora i would say! It flies nice too. Dnt know about mossie.

Then again, i use a audigy 2 so all game sounds are better than most people think....

NAFP -
To clarify my earlier comments - my reference to the Mosquito engines has no relevenace to the game sound source at all but more so what they are attached to the aircraft itself and the fact it is being included in the next upgrade. To go further as there are no twin merlin engined aircraft in the sim so far, it would be interesting to see how it comes out. Also if you haven't heard the sound of a merlin itself try sourcing the recordings made during the 60's (1968 - 50 yrs of RAF poss?)narrated by GP Douglas Bader of RAF aircraft both piston and jet. You will find examples of Spitfire hurricane, mosquito and Lancaster on the first side of the recording. I can clarify this next time I visit my family, as I believe it is my fathers record (cd available?)I'm sure from memory that DB comments on those who could tell the difference between Spit & Hurri engines, also on the record I'm sure has engines starting up as well as in flight sounds. To summarise not interested in the sounds more the plane!.

It's pinch hitting for the Typhoon in some respects. A low-level, fast, British rocket and bomb-carrier.

The Tempest was cleared for 5,00 lbs and 1,000 lbs bombs under each wing. It was also cleared for rocket rails. Now, it loks like neither the rocket rails nor the 1,000 lbrs saw action, but they were available if so needed.

We have enough trouble getting correct loadouts for most planes (FW-190D, Bf-190F, Hurricane IIC, Spitfire V, VIII, IX and P-47D), lets not deny the Tempest a load-out it was approved for (and had done tests with).

You forgot napalm, it's also stated in one of my sources. The beauty off all this facts is that we can use it like a Typhoon http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
EDIT:Ok here are loadouts:

JU88 cant take torpedoes, Tempest does not YET have 2*500 option, options at the moment are 2*1000 or 8 rockets or 2 drop tanks. I imagine loadouts will be added. Of course this is all rumour, im spreading the faith is all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

further to my last post regarding the Douglas Bader recording. By some strange quirk of fate this is available now on CD for the 1st time and is included as a Freebie with the current issue of Flypast magazine in the UK. It has the Firefly on the front cover, very strange indeed noot listened to it yet but maybe later.

It's funny, I thought those were machine-guns too for a moment when I saw that picture. I did then realise they were rocket rails...
