View Full Version : What will happen after the three addons?

Hi all!

I went on the forums and I found this by DuxCorvan:

''I'll tell you that the planes and cockpits coming in these last three add-ons, are the last ones at all.''

So, does that mean that il2 will kind of ''die'' after the 3 addons and Bob will take over and we'll don't have addons anymore for FB-PF?
If the 3rd party stops updating FB-PF, will they release some softwares to custom the game similar to the FMB or make anything else?

I'm sure there will be third parties adding paid add-ons for some time.

Hopefully Oleg has moved on completely to BOB, and the third parties have enough expertise that they be hounding Oleg for help.

The three AddOns are probably being followed by one or two patches (or free AddOns) which add the last free items (namely some 3rd Party Maps).

As it is development of BoB is already the main priority and after the AddOns support will be drastically cut back (if not stopped at all). There will be no modding tools, though, as this would contradict Maddox Games's business policy. The code will remain in their hands, modding รก la M$ FS/CFS won't be possible.

There's still that "un-named" title that would appear to be based on this engine. If so there may yet still be a surprise or two.

Well, I may be wrong, don't take my words too seriously: I'm not in the development team.

It's still likely that Oleg will release some surprise 'prize' for 4.07 owners -ppl that have paid everything he's released- as a free 4.08 or something, containing some of his half-compromises -I'm thinking of D.XXI, AI B.534, S.328 or CW-21B- but I wouldn't swear on it.

As for Il-2 engine projects, well, I think Maddox and 1C has lend or sold a license to other company for a WW1 sim, but I don't know if this will finally come along.

The secret no-name project? Who knows. Some talk about Korea, but seems to be top secret by now.

Then BoB, and only BoB. I hope so, since Oleg alleged claims of it becoming as much a complete WW2 air sim platform as Il-2FB/PF has been, with such quality, represents something of a titanic, pharaonic task.

i hope that oleg releases XXI before 4.07 and after 4.07 he dedicates all his time for upcoming new sim. The optimal case would be that oleg gives some third party crew permission to add new stuff for this great sim.

Man I would LOVE a Korea or Vietnam era sim... I've always wanted to fly the F-4. and so far no real sim has come onto my radar screen that would be the kind of quality that Oleg is known for.

Oh yes a Viet Nam sim would be great!

A4 Skyhawk is one of my favourite A/C!

What Dux mea lux said, with the difference that the first free addon seems to be scheduled after Sturmoviks over Manchuria and before 1946. I read it over SimHQ, Ian Boy's word.

Check out this site, it talks about a further add on after 4.05/06/07. From the insignia I have no idea what it could be. I for one would love to see a Korean War add on..

Well looking at the insignias for the "Unnamed Stand-Alone Title" we can at least say that the US insignia is from 1947+ when the red stripes where added (and are still used for planes without camouflage). North Korea used a red star while Vietnam used a yellow one. It shouldn't be a too risky guess to say Korea?...

oh man...korea

the graphics engine of IL2 i think is more suitable for korea than for anything else because the korean landscape.

with a fully dinamic campaign generator and resourse management like MIG ALLEY use to have.

I still play with MIG ALLEY every now and then just because these features were so well made.

it would be awseom if one could replace the MIG ALLEY graphics engine with IL-2s

I was came up with the korean suggestion too but a reply from SaQsOn said that it most definatly wasn't. Too bad, it would have been pretty darn cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think this game will be around for a long time after the add-ons and patches have stopped.

CFS2 was "officaly" finished 6 years ago with out any major "company" patch. But even after 6 years its still going strong. I think IL2 will do the same.

CFS2 however allows for third party input into the game without intervention of the original developer.

1. I do not want to disappoint anyone
2. I have no clue either

... but ...

... US Insignia with red stripes and communist red star could as well fit "Berlin Air Bridge 1948". In a sense, the 46 USSR add-on, the existing Berlin map and US/UK planes pave the way for it.

Would be some kind of fitting encore for the whole Il2 story.

In that case "Air Bridge Gone Kaputt" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Kind of fun but at the other hand it would feel rather boring as a standalone game as almost all the content would be from the old game/add-ons? If we go the hypothetical way than how about "Cuba Crisis Gone Hot" which was another "almost WWIII" moment. An early 60:ies scenario has definately never been done afaik?

Think of it... Many planes that are untouched in sim history... The Cuba crisis starts an all out war in europe...

Nato:

A-4
F-8
F-100
F-101
F-102
F-104
F-105
F-106
F3H
Early F-4:s
Mirage III
Dassault Super Mystere
Hawker Hunter
EE (BAC) Lightning
J-35 Draken (Sweden! Top notch 1960!)
U-2 (naturally!)
B-52 (see above)
Avro Vulcan

Soviet

Mig-15
Mig-17
Mig-19
Early Mig-21:s
Su-7
Su-9
Tu-16
Tu-95
Yak-28

Not that I think that this is the setting for the unanounced title but it would be rather fun (and surprising!).

Sound dumb but maybe a Korean War addon for the BoB engine?

The original FB with all its tweaking is four years old now. I think it would make more sense to use the BoB one... although BoB is still got some work ahead before going gold... I think they'd have enough to start modeling...

Oh yes, the ability for almost anyone to make what they want of any plane. And they do.
That has driven many serious players off that game.

If that last thing is Korea I would hope that it would be an addon... sort of like a AEP+PF on one disk. Especially if it used the same engine as FB. That would be too sweet. I think this sim will be around for a while. Lets face it.. its a good piece of software and BoB will start out small..... I like the way OFF has revived CFS3 to some extent by giving it a enue with no competition. The same would happen with this sim.. even if BoB was out... if the fiunal add on was Korea and not a stand alone.

If I remember, he said it wouldn't be a "add-on" to the current game.

I'm beginning to changee my mind about CFS3. Take a look at this thread, plus watch the movie by alx, the last post on this page - It's a Vickers Wellington http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Also look at Maestro's jpg's (2nd post).
