Just to see how fast I could go, using the quick mission builder I equipped a Go-229 without weapons and with 50% fuel and started it off at 10000m, I then put it into a vertical dive with full engine power on and managed to reach a speed of 1110 km(That's mach 0.906081) before I exploded. I have posted an nrtk track here which is quite short.

The Dornier Do-17, another brilliant example of German engineering, a ???Schnellbomber" which could just outrun all fighters, this plane led to the German victory in the Battle of Britain and indeed, the Second World War.

I forget which version of the game...but I took a P-47 to nearly 1100kph on the speed bar. Not sure if you can do that anymore but I think my journey ended with the rapidly approaching ground reaching up and saying "hello" with a mighty crash.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

"What we need to take control,we could use the Rat Patrol. What's that coming over the dune?...
Chasing the halftracks across the sandflats, got a nice pine box,for that desert fox, machine guns blaring, and Arabs staring wondering why,the Westerners are there. It's the same old story, and it'll happen again."

Fastest speed in FB was...

In olde FB, you could fly off the eastern edge of the Kuban map, turn around and fly under that huge mountain cliff at the map edge. You could fly under the map. Now, if your plane touched the terrain from the underside, you were ejected upwards out of the terrain at very high speeds. I first did this in P11c and got ejected to about 15 kilometers altitude in about 3 seconds before it slowed down to a stop. That's fast.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I remember there was a rumour that you could do that. I never forund the entrance though. What's it like down there? Are the hills the same, just inverted? I really want to know!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

What i the max speed you can set in FMB? That's the fastest I ever went.

I've had the German jets to about Mach 2(!).

You've just got to keep climbing. The game doesn't model Mach effects properly and as a result you can get really stupid TAS values at high altitude.

Interestingly the YP-80 lapses thrust faster than the German jets and as a result remains resolutely subsonic...

That was back in a AEP version before 2.04... think it was 2.01 or something like that (pic is dated July 2003).

Needed stutter & dmg off, could achieve that by using the "map border catapult" on the eastern border of the Kuban map where the floor is at 2000m http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
You could fly beneath the map entering there. If you popped out at the right point, you'd be catapulted right out of the map with a LOT of speed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I hit 1000KM'h during an online game at Warclouds in my P-47 while booming and zooming. I managed to pull out of it without losing any control surfaces (flaps, rudder falling off), but it was a bumpy ride at that speed for sure!

Not much point in max speed if you die!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
