Hi, ACEerased.

I'd take a good look at Bearcat's Nugget's Guide for details about patching, flying online etc: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...3110283/m/9121094645 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645)

Hey cool Andy thanks for the quick reply. Yeah have not flown online since I was into FB, had a ton of fun with cool skins'n stuff. Been out of the loop a long time. Thought I'd give my old username/password a try and here I am. Woohoo
Will give that thread a read.

Patches up to 4:10 went flawlessly. Now to check it all out. Thank you again..

Played several hours on Hyperlobby last night. A ton of fun. As usual couldn't hit anything. Did get the enemy Control Tower once, though, my primary target on any given mission, haha. Several bailouts and subsequent capture. No cigarettes in Blue POW prisons. Don't like that idea very much. Next time will evade capture for sure, and pack smokes and lighter in my survival pack.

Yeah. I find my aim goes off if I don't play for a few days (not that it's brilliant at the best of times), so if you are hitting anything at all after a break like that, you're doing well. I don't know if you've noticed, but the QMB now has a 'statistics' page (click 'next', and then 'stats'), so you can practice against the AI, and see just how many hits you're getting. Maybe for the next patch, we can persuade TD to add this to the online options etc too, though some servers let you request statistics anyway.

Glad to hear the install went well too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I can do wonderful in QMB,,, at 1/4 speed,, HA!
At normal speed I can blast away from Gunner Al's chair in the IL2 with a plane filling the sights, and not hit it.
Just did another 20 runs or so in RCAF's dogfight, couldn't hit a thing. Got one guy on the ground with my 2.5 Ptabs lol

Hi ACEerased,

What's your setup for inputs? Translation: do you have a joystick, rudder pedals, head tracker device, throttle, etc? That can make a huge difference. Example, I have twist stick rudder, and find myself all over the place with rudder control, because it's not possible for me (a real world pilot) to input rudder accurately with my wrist. Rudders and all the rest are on my to get list, but alas, money is tight at the moment.

Anyway, you may find that input devices make all the difference. Sure, it can't cure being simply a bad pilot, but it can make someone who understands the basics a whole lot better when they have the right tools for the job.

Check out this pdf file (http://web.comhem.se/%7Eu85627360/inpursuit.pdf). Called In Pursuit, it's aimed at online flying but a huge amount of the information is also directly applicable to offline flying, and flight simming in general. There is a section that deals with joysticks et al, and gives a very good indication of just how important having a good setup and the right equipment is.

Also, be aware of how IL2's input works. I'm not super clear on this myself, but as I understand it, you can literally scale the response of various inputs. For example, you can have it such that when you move your real world joystick through 100% of its travel, the in game control is only moved say 50% of its travel. It's also scaleable, so you can have different percentages through different sections of the arch of travel. There's a wonderful utility for it at Mission4Today (http://www.mission4today.com/), a site you'll have to sign up for, but well worth it. The BEST place to go for just about anything you'd need for IL2, but skins in particular.

Siggh yeah I'm in the dark ages with doodads for my PC, all I have is Attack3 joystick, Z and X for rudder function. I've noticed just about everyone has aircraft handling vastly superior to mine. Great fun notwithstanding. (always looked for a suitable use for that word)
I get a kick out of formation flight with several TB3's..
Signed up for M4T, great info there.

Someday I hope to do some serious upgrades, memory, video card, etc.

Hi Ace, I too have recently done exactly the same as you, found a hole in my calender, and dusted off my old Saitek joystick, and bought myself Il-2 1946, have patched up to 4.09,
Need to do the last one, and have been looking also into M4T, to get some off line campaigns, where I can fully get back into it:-)

Great to be back.

'In pursuit' looking like a great read. By page 28 have already picked up some new and interesting knowledge.

Hi Polle IL2 is something else eh?
The very first time I tried IL2 Demo my jaw dropped. Still enjoying the f3 flypasts ten years in...
I still have Combat Flight Simulator loaded, like to play that once in a while too, just to enjoy the Spitfire's sound.

Glad to hear it. I'm no noob to flight sims, combat or otherwise, and I'm learning stuff I didn't know, too.

Curious, how did you manage to get a crown vic in your signature next to a Do 335?
