Thanks, UbiRazz !

Can you imagine screenshot possibilities with shot down pilots in dinghies ? LOL. What will some of us say when we use our lifeboat, "I used my rubber (dinghy) today" ?

Are there plans to have pilots using Mae West jackets also ?

And now that we have downed pilots, can maneaters not be far behind ? What sort of sharks will Oleg model ? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Er... How comes Akitsuki is written reversed on the side of the japanese destroyer?
I've already seen such an error (?) on a website showing blueprint of Japanese Navy boats, but I doubt it would have been written reversed in real life as I don't see the point (unless you're in a car looking in the rear view mirror at a destroyer following you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The dingy is a nice touch, but it would be much better if it was painted in fluro colours and the little guy was given a beer can and sunnieshttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I mean look at the picture, he's already got the right attitude!

Read from right to left, it does says Akizuki (this confused me briefly too and almost caused me to start digging out my Katakana and Hiragana books). Check above the tsu and you'll see it is a zu http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Although it does seem odd that it's in Katakana and not Hiragana.. I'll investigate.

I'm a week behind. Will the A6M2-N seaplane be flyable? The carrier shots are enough to make you...(you finish).

Very nice.

Yes, the sea plane in last weeks update will be flyable (I was flying it myself at the Blackpool FlightSim show http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

Sorry to be slight ly OT UbiRazz, but from the several replies you have posted since becoming Community Manager and your threads about this and previous dev. updates, you seem to be an IL-2/FB/AEP player also.

The reason for my statement is when people call for new mods to help out CrazyIvan, various names are suggested but you have always been skipped over, because you are the Community Manager, and thought of more of an UBI staff memeber and not a fellow FB/AEP player.

British Carriers = EVIL. First thing Im gonna do is set up a mission with 30+ Kamikazes and watch them all bounce off. "Sailors, Prepare your brooms!"

Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...

In one shot the pilot's eyes are open, and in
the other, they are closed. Will pilots have
facial expressions? Or did the owner of that
face close his eyes while photographed?
Would seem silly to fly around with eyes closed, though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

lmfao, dinghy vulching?

And why the Brits were the only ones to use metal decks:

The Americans and Japanese were useing wood to save on weight, cost, and because wood was much faster to repair.

But...Then again...Wood can't be repaired at all when it's on the bottom of the ociean.

Actualy the steel decks did not make that much difference, the Royal Navy Carrier HMS Hermes sunk fairly quickly, after being attacked by IJNAF aircraft, from the Japanese Naval Task force conducting Operation C the Indian Ocean Raid in April 42.
A couple of days before that a pair of Royal Navy heavy cruisers where sunk SW of Ceylon by aircraft from the same Japanese Carriers, they where both sinking within 15 minutes.
You can bet those heavy cruisers had better top armour than any Royal Navy Carrier as well.
HMS Cornwall was one of the 2 heavy Cruisers the name of the other escapes me for now.

However these two seperate actions occuring in the same combat area demonstrate that steel decks where not really effective protection from IJNAF carrier bourne aircraft.

The IJNAF Val Dive Bomber was as good as any other Dive bomber in the World at the time, throw in A6M2 Zero fighter escorts, and 5 Japanese Carriers running amok in the Indian Ocean in April 42, and you have the Royal Navys worst nightmare come true.
Fortunately for the Royal Navy Eastern Fleet their 2 other Carriers in the area did not come accross the Japanese Naval Task force as they retreated towards India.

Good question Wuggle85. I was thinking the same thing. Will Pacific Fighters be a "stand alone" game or if we have AEP will the game be added as another expansion?

Also release date, I understand that it is to be released sometime in the fall. Is this still the plan? Are you on schedule?

Lastly, does Pacific Fighters have its own web site? If so what is the web site addy?

Thank you.

Just seen the pics of the f4u1 Corsair trapped at Lexington!?

I hope that this is simply a WIP example since i think you are aware that Lady lex (CV-2) was bombed out of comission 1942 during the battle of the coral sea (equiped with Gruman Wildcats Fighters)and it was CV-16 who took over her name and task for the rest of WWII.

The Corsair failed originaly to qualify for carrier use, after a sucsesful combat career as a land based USMC and Navy a/c it was introduced as carrier a/c at the end of the war and continued to be used up untill the French Indo china war was taken over by the US to become the Vietnam war.

It is funny to see just like the P-51 you start with the late bubble canopy model, I hope we will see the early "Birdcage" corsair since it was used just like the P-51B/C untill the end of the war.

at least VMF 214 flew mixed models of corsair during their first two tours of duty.

Please reduce the oversized arrestor cable!
