Hi all!

Haven't been around here too much lately but I have moved to Germany and I am starting to settle down (btw, very nice country!).

A quick question to other fellow resident: what do you advise as an adsl service? Do I have to get a phone line first or could I just connect the adsl? I haven't been flying for almost 4 weeks now, and I starting to act weird hehe

Guten tag!

You have to get a phone line first, then order DSL-Connection;

If you order at Deutsche Telekom, it will cost you around 60 Euro/month, for a 6Mbit DSL Flatrate...

I just came back from Germany. As for ADSL, I have never seen a faster service then what I used in Germany. I downloaded 50mbs so fast I thought the connection wasn't working.

Which part of Germany did you move too?

60 Euros?

I get cable of comparable or greater speed for $40 CDN, or 27 Euros.

Just thought I'd say that.

I'm in Beijing and get ADSL, or as I like to call it "ADSLOW", for 12 euro per month.

I get what I pay for. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Glorious ADSL of the people! Mao would be proud. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Have you tried to muck around with the censors yet? That might be fun.

What do you need a 6mbit line for? You plan to have a 64 player server running? Normal ADSL costs around 20-30" per month, with different providers.

The prices vary only a bit, but there is a hughe difference if you choose a flatrate, a time-based or volume-based internet connection. Those are extremely cheap right now and the prices are still dropping here.

If you had moved to Hamburg or Stuttgard, you'd be one of the few happy to get the Telekoms newest offer: 25MBit for 30"/month. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Check the internet for local offers. Sometimes providers have special offers that are limited to certain cities. They are usually cheaper but faster than the national Telekom offers.
