Hello fellow PC gamers! Great news for anyone who followed the CodeOfConviction.com and got their Akali unlock code AND replacement code!!!

There are a few steps to this. DON'T fill up this post with a rant about how PC players shouldn't have to jump through this many hoops to unlock this XBOX content. The fact we can get it at all is pretty cool. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

http://www.scaredscriptless.com/images/jason/sc5/PC_Akali/conviction_game%202010-05-17%2013-09-47-34.jpg
<LI> First thing is to make sure you have your CodeOfConviction code.

<LI> Next have your REPLACEMENT CodeOfConviction code.

<LI> A photo of your Splinter Cell Conviction UPC code from the back of the SCC PC box.

<LI> A photo of the receipt or other SCC PC proof of purchase.

<LI> Contact Ubi Support here: http://www.ubi.com/us/support/ and log in with your Ubisoft forum account information.

<LI> Once logged in click on the lower left "UBISOFT SUPPORT" button

<LI> Then click "Ask a Question" at the top.
Put in the Product (PC) then select (SCC).
Next Select Category (Patches?Updates/DLC)

<LI> In the "Question Field" put in a very nice message asking for help, Something like the following.

I completed all the steps for the codeofconviction.com to have access to the VR AKALI DLC. I have tried numerous times to input the code I was issued on my PC but I am afraid it is just for Xbox users. I have also tried using the replacement code and it too does not work.

At one point PC gamers were told in the Ubi forums that the DLC code would work on the PC or a replacement code would be issued to PC gamers who completed the codeofconviction.com. I can no longer find the forum post for referance.

If you could please tell me what this avid Splinter Cell fan needs to do to collect the VR AKALI suit I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the help!

<LI> Then attach the photos of your SCC UPC and receipt. Then click "CONTINUE" and send it off. With in 1 business day I got a reply.

Impressive! Shame I didn't do codeofconviction then. Feeling like a real idiot now. Let me be the first to start the begging for an Akali code on this thread.

Just a bit of a side question, Jason, and on a more serious note. How long did it take for Ubi support to get a code to you after you provided them with full details of the purchase and the code? I ask because I've been trying to swap an Xbox SPAS code with them for a PC code, and while I recognize that they are busy it seems to be getting a long time since they said they would forward my request and info to the correct department. But if it took 2 weeks, say, for you, then I'll continue to be patient.

Nope. The website is closed. So the only way to get an Akali skin is if you've got something valuable to barter with someone who did get one through codeofconviction, or less likely if someone who has an Akali code is generous enough to give it to you.

I got an automated response within 10 minutes saying that they received my support request. The next day I was instructed to provide the before mentioned details (UPC, Receipt, code etc). The very next business day I had the replacement PC code.

If you went through the Ubisoft support I would log back in and reopen your tech support ticket and politely ask what the status is on the replacement code. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If not open a ticket with Ubisoft support at the above link (referenced in my original post) and see if you can get it to the correct people yourself. It's possible that your request slipped through the cracks and just needs to be picked back up and sent to the proper channels.

Indeed. I just did exactly what you suggested. I had much the same response initially, an automated response and then a requrest for the code and proof of purchase. I sent that almost two weeks ago, and got the response that the issue was being addressed. So hopefully applying a polite nudge might get some results.

Pretty much screwed. Since codeofconviction has been closed for a long time, I can only see three ways those of us without codes will get one:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>If you've got something to trade with someone who has an Xbox code (another code, or buy it), and then get in touch with Ubi to get it changed to a PC code.
<LI>If you're really lucky and someone with a code is generous and gives it to you.
<LI>If Ubi make the Akali publicly available as a free or paid download.
Given I think the last isn't going to happen, its pretty much finding someone with a code and convincing them to give it to you. And given that there are a restricted number of codes worldwide as a result of codeofconviction, and a lot of the code swapping happened last month, its going to be pretty hard to get a code.

So really, anyone out there with a code should name their price, I guess. But realise what you have is appreciating in value (I shouldn't say that really since I'd like a code, buy hey, let's be honest).

I'm ALL about helping the PC community. That's why I posted this nugget instead of keeping it to myself. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But I am not comfortable copying files from my install. It's not pirating but it is playing with someone else's intellectual property. I am SURE the Akali suit will be released as DLC in the near future. Why else would it be included if we were not to have access to it at some point.

Jason-Alaska,

So, just to clarify, giving away 3rd Echelon Gamespot codes is ethical, but giving away some saved-game values is not? Just remember, Ubisoft promised FREE weekly content, however they failed to mention that in order to obtain certain bonuses, you must sign up to 3rd party websites. That is a breach of trust, aswell as problematic for certain locales. As for this suit becoming free DLC in the future, that is not certain, but if you are SURE, then what is the problem? As for the saved files - you bought the game, and the saved files are simply records of your achievements. Please reconsider http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Regards

Vitality,
I'm not going to argue Ubisoft's "free weekly content".

I'm just not comfortable skirting the EULA that way. It's up to Ubisoft to determine how they want content delivered. Not me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

I do understand what you are trying to do. I am not against it. Just not comfortable helping in that way. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The above method isn't working for me. I tried the steps to exchange my 360 codes to PC for Akali skin and this is what they say, not even a "show your proof of purchase" instructions. Either they got wise to it...but hey, isn't codeofconviction organised by Ubisoft?

You were a lucky guy, Jason, getting a response in one day. I'm still waiting for any response on that SPAS code from Ubisoft support since the rep said he would pass it on to the correct department, and its coming up on a month since I started the ticket. I feel a little guilty that I'm complaining about something (a code swap) that they aren't obliged to do, but ultimately I was told that they would look into it and get back to me. That's the part that really annoys me. I could accept if they said they couldn't swap the code, but to not get any response at all ... I've always believed that if you say you'll do something, you should do it or have a good reason not to.

Really disappointing stuff from customer services. If anyone like a forum manager with Ubisoft links reads this, maybe you'd be kind enough to pass my negative feedback up the chain of command. Because I'm pretty disappointed and more than a little angry to have been told a response would come and then have nothing further happen. Maybe making my issue public will make others wiser about using Ubisoft support.

Its a shame that something like this has to be in a thread which otherwise shows how good Ubisoft support can be (with Jason-Alaska's prompt response), but I can't see how to get any response at all otherwise except to make this public, if Ubisoft won't read their own damn support tickets.

I had some problems with the code as well and contacted Ubi support. Not only for Splinter Cell Conviction, but also on other games as well.
They tend to ignore me and they just answer my question like this is a gameplay problem, go check Gamefaqs.com or wutever websites. Then when I ask the question again, they just mark "solved" on my problem. I'm really ****ed about it.
This is how Ubisoft treat their customers.

Yeah, Kennible, it is disappointing to get poor treatment from Ubisoft support. Ultimately, they are there to provide support, as long as its a valid question. It's part of the responsibility that any global corporation has to its customers post purchase, to provide a degree of support to the product. I don't think anyone is asking for much from Ubi support. Just to be treated with a degree of decency.

Also, apologies to Jason if my rant gets your thread locked. And to any moderators tempted to be overzealous and lock this thread - at least let one of the forum managers know of its content if you think it deserves to be locked. That way we might get a little joy from support. Because I don't think anyone could say the treatment I've received, and it looks like others have received, is in any way appropriate for a support function.

Well I guess Ubi's playing double standard. I sent my question and attached my codes from codeofconviction but didn't attach my receipt and I get areply from support that Ubisoft has nothing to do with codeofconviction and won't help. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Hello there,

Unfortunately what you have heard is not true.

You are well with in the forum Terms of Use (ToU) and discussed the issues without breaking any forum rules. It's okay to speak your opinion as long as you stay inside the forum ToU. And you did. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

To others with issues with Ubi support. I have only had issues when I send in a specific request for help and get a generic response. The key here is to follow up and re address the issues. If you get the form letter response READ IT. You might be surprised that there may be a nugget of wisdom in there. Not for THIS ISSUE. But with other issues. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

When you reply to the generic form letter address the issues that are in the form letter. and send the reply. NOT IN EMAIL. But in your Ubi support ticket. I have never had any issues and always get through to a live person who is willing to help.

But you have to follow through with it. You will NOT likely get a POOF here's your solution. I did get lucky with mine and had a complete resolution in just a few days.

I am working with Ubi support on another SCC issue that has me and a buddy perplexed. Our game freezes every 1-3 minutes for 10-20 seconds at a time and then returns to normal game play. We have had 10 exchanges on this issue but they ARE working with me on it.

Stay on them. Keep updating your trouble ticket till it's resolved. With this issue or any issue with Ubi Support. They really have always done right by me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

EvilSpark1,
If you're asking how to get the Shadow Armor I got it in the PC Collectors Edition. I ordered it direct from Ubisoft France. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Success with the SPAS code! This is the point where I say my apologies for being harsh with the support people and on the forum. I'm not sure whether I would have gotten attention if I hadn't been a little cutting in what I said, but I kinda wish I'd asked more politely one last time. Anyway, issue resolved and kudos to Ubisoft support for coming through when they had no obligation to do so. My faith in Ubi support is largely restored, especially seeing EvilSpark get an Akali code swapped as well.

the funny thing is...

You have an obligation as customers to be courteous to Support, and they also have obligations in Support to help you, if you try to spell properly and dont spam or attack them.

Yeah. I mean I had tried the courteous, polite and patient route with support, but just the waiting got to me. Its probably never appropriate to get angry with these people though - they are just doing their job. Sometimes, though, one wishes they could be a little more prompt in doing it, if you've been polite and patient with them.

However, my problem is solved, and I'm really grateful that they did give me a PC SPAS code - it was a mess up on the retailer's part that there weren't any PC SPAS codes with the preorder, and Ubisoft didn't have to help set that right. An ex gratia code, so to speak, and one I'm thankful for.

I was wonderinf that I bought the game on Ebay, and I don't have code of conviction key for Akali. Is there a chance to get VR Akali armor just by asking Ubisoft upport? :P
