So, what do you think is the best bomb delay and where it applies (in case you have more than one suggestions)?

For high alt bombing and marine targets 0. For low alt work as small as possible without destroying your plane with you own bombs.

I use 1 sec for fighter-bombers and 3 for 50kg's on He-111.

I use 2 second delays on all bomb types. Lets me get away with low altitude bomb jobs, give me a chance to climb away and then kaboom! I suppose part of it is the visceral content http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

For hi-alt and skip-bombing (bouncing bomb off the water) use zero delay, for low alt it depends on the bomb... I really wouldn't wanne try dropping a 5000kg bomb low alt with the pe8 and only 2 secs distance http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

When using Stuka or He-111, I always set 3 second delay.

In case a fighter is on my 6, I can go to ground level and drop the bomb on the ground, in hopes it blows up the fighter behind me.

I use a 4 sec delay. It's pretty safe when you drop at low altitude.

If you have a big bomb delay, does it mean that you have to drop your bomb from further distance from a jabo?

No, you would drop the same as with a non-delay bomb.

The bomb will stay where it lands, count down, then explode.

p.s. better adjust that alpha channel in your avatar Fennec http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif - nice render though.
