From the way you guys talk about it. I gotta try it. Have any of you flown against the thing?

I gotta try it out to know the big deal!

Its a good fighter, however its a bit hindered as it only has the 9lb boost instead of the 11lb boost, if it had the 11lb boost it would be an absaloute demon, otherwise its superior to all axis planes down low apart from the dora which as its the 9lb version its slightly inferior. I shot down 4 109s and 190s in one engagement online with it yesterday.....you have to be a good energy fighter to be able to use it to its advantage....has great cpntrol surface response at high speeds and turns well at low speeds if needed

Here's what it is:

- fast
- relatively manueverable for a plane of its size
- extremely well armed
- excellent cockpit both aesthetically and in terms of visibility (with one reservation)

Here's what its not:

- the fastest fighter ever at all speeds
- a turn fighter
- visibility to the rear is poor to non-existant due to armor plate

I personally love the plane...but its a specialists plane. If your fly a Spitfire all the time and prefer to turn fight...stick with the Spitfire.

It is currently well down on max continuous boost, which IMO is a big issue, but it still rocks! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

I agree it isn't a good turn fighter... if you are good at energy managment you'll do well.

The other day I flew the Tempest online... I had a 109 following me.. it was simple enough to keep him away... enough to the point we were just flashing our lights at each other.. we both knew I saw him... Well for a while he just couldn't get in range... I was trying to figure out how I could get him... By now I was a little higher than him and a ways out... In the end I got too close and couldn't turn fast enough for any shots.. so I just extend out of there... easy enough.. he couldn't catch me.. But I died when I got annoyed and tried some hard turns.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I wish more people fly this plane!

Tempest rocks. Maybe not god's own plane, but certainly the perfect storm (unless we get a Typhoon for comparison).

No real vices that I can find. It's the British Jug, so I'm naturally drawn to it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (to say nothing of the Hawker-Sopwith connection and me being a *huge* WWI fan. lol)

It does seem a bit *too* good at turning though, but I don't have the data to back that up, it's just a feeling. (Alternately, other planes might be not good enough, relatively speaking)

109s and 190s own it just like they own everything else in this sim.
