I know it's probably been asked before, but is there anyway to get rid of them? They're really a frame rate killer at that Airbase on the USAAF Campaign.

Thanks in Advance.

If PF was so realistic as it claims, a gasoline can and a match should suffice... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Is there any way to get rid of the Palm Trees or reduce the number ?

No matter what "forest=" is 0,1,2,or 3, I get no difference in palm trees. They are not changed regardless of the option, and always heavily drop the frame rates. weird....um... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Other sorts of tree never drop the performance so much. I tried to turn fastwrites off, but had no difference. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Try using the Destruction brush in the FMB. I think I recall some time ago, somebody posting that they got rid of the trees that way. I don't think they were a member of the Siera Club http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, the destruction brush works well to reduce the numbers of lag trees. However, the destroyed trees make the mission files HUGE!

In the FMB, use the Destruction Slider and brush away the palm trees. Destruction Slider instructions should be in FP manual, they were in FB manual. You want medium to small brush size...just experiment.

Experiment with destruction percentage too. If I recall, 50% or higher is all you need to kill DESTROY the palm trees leaving nothing, not even rotting logs. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif 50% will leave many buildings alone--last time I used it. According to crazyivan, this destruction of palm trees does not help with onwhine internet dogfighter missions, they are stuck with palm trees...hey it may finally force this community to fly at hysterically correct high altitudes where diving is an option (except for low altitude palm tree attack missions)

You could I suppose edit them out from the .mis file?

Yes you can, but that places the palm trees back in the mission. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

The destroyed objects (trees, buildings, etc...) appear in dozens of pages of bizzare code at the bottom of the mission text file, below all the "real" important stuff. It has no effect on loading time of FMB mission file or the loading of game mission. Just ignore the pages of code.

Remember the old "pacific map" from FB/AEP? I took out all palm trees, but left buildings at the airports as I used fine destruction brush and zoomed in to see what I was wiping out. This created about 60 pages of code at the bottom of mission file. At about 50 lines per page, that is 60x30 or 3,000 palm trees destroyed. That was for the entire dogfight map.
