Another tread got me thinking about the pros anc cons of Full Swich vs Wonder Woman wiews in the current game.

Its beeing debated back and fourth about how FS "is for proffesionals" and WW "for noobs" and so on, so it would be nice if we could leave that disscusion for another tread for now.

What im wondering is: does anyone know if BoB is gonna look similar or will there be improvents and if so what kind of improvents?

Im thinking along the lines of beeing able to se the rear wiew mirror without using the mouse ( some ac ), will we be able to "lean" to get a better wiew to the sides/down without having to tilt the entire ac, will we get rid of the "head on a stick" and so on, will there be more perifrial vision and not the looking through a peep hole feeling?

Anyone?

Adjusting the FOV will solve the peep hole thing... BoB is supposed to support 6DOF ... which means you can move your head around as if you were there... forward, back, rotate sideways.. move horizontal... all that stuff... as far as 'looks' go I don't know.. I've seen maybe 2 screen shots and the graphics ar nice in the cockpits but I've yet to see any action shots.

It would be very nifty if we could lean to the side to look forward on take-off or to have a look at the ground.

What the heck was a bf108 a recon plane?

If memory sreves it was the "civilian" version and ended up being the military trainer version. I believe they started you in gliders, moved you up to the 108, then on to the real thing. Maybe their going to use it in a German campaign where you start off in flight school?

Have you seen the Great Escape with Steve McQueen.

well James Garner "Flight Lt. Hendley "The Scrounger" steals one along with Donald Pleasence "Flight Lt. Colin Blythe "The Forger" but runs out of fuel and crash lands, Donald Pleasence being blind does not see the round that kills him http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif they were in one

That's a Bf 108 Tony? Are you sure? Looks like a Klemm trainer to me

The Bf 108 Taifun was also not a civilian version of a military aircraft

It was an innovative four seat touring aircraft that first flew as a protoype in 1934. Several things on it proved good enough ideas to have them be used on later aircraft such as the 109, but as far as I know, it is a myth that the 108 was a testbed for the 109

It was a very popular liason aircraft during the war, much desired by Allied personell as well

Those cockpits look fantastic. And that screenshot with a tank in grass looks very cool too.

6DoF http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I'll certainly buy a TrackIR for BOB.

6d0f in BoB is really the only reason I'm excited about it. I'm too apprehensive about the hardware required otherwise...

What I'm now looking forward to is the WWI sim based on Il-2 engine, but with proper 3-d cockpits.

So to sum it up: Everyone thinks it is ok to have less than good wiews in up comming BoB ( same as PF today ) that pretty much forces u to pich in for a tool, Track IR, that costs 2-3 times more than the game itselfe, if u want to be remotly competitiv in any kind of "real" sim flying that is. ( compared to WW DF servers today )

As i understand it Track IR doesnt give u any wiews that u dont allredy have through your hat swich/mouse. If u cant lean to the sides for example neither can Track IR, correct?

Someone must have some ideas of how wiews can be changed/improved?

BTW Fordfan...i can write that in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or in German if thats more helpful. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

TrackIR + 6dof.
Seriously, you can find it in Aces High 2's key combination system, but view of Aces High 2 really shines with TrackIR + 6dof. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You won't need to worry about TrackIR price if you're that capable.
I'm a humble wage earner but it was never a heavy burden. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Since i dont use Track IR...what does 6dof intail? what does it do?

All im saying ( not saying its possible ) is that it would be nice to have something simillar or close to Track IR/6dof "right out of the box" so to speak. With some new features like lean and so on.

Essentially you are correct for the il-2 series, since it only supports 2 degrees of freedom(2DOF). The only benefit in il-2 is it frees up a hand and is more natural when you get used to it. However, before I bought mine, I had little trouble using the micro-joystick on my throttle or the hat on my joystick.

With 6DOF you will be able to move your head as you said. You will be able to lean out the side, stretch to see the mirror, or look around the canopy support structures. Again TrackIR won't be required, just makes it easier. There will be hat, mouse and joystick combinations that will give you the same abilities.

Natural point has some videos (http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/product-videos.html) on their site. I don't want to sound like I'm promoting TrackIR or anything. These videos show 6dof in action and what we should expect from BoB.

Just for the record I felt I was equally effective using a hat or TrackIR. However, I do like the immersive feel I get from TrackIR versus flicking my thumb to look around. The only advantage I ever noticed was when I was in a scissors fight and needed to constantly look over opposite shoulders.

Looks real nice diomedes33. Way closer to the "real" thing than what we have today. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Looks to me like there would be a lot of key/mouse/joystick combinations to get all the movements. Track IR seem to make it a hole lot easier like u said.
