Yes they are very nice, hmm they are also better then the il2 one´s.
Only thing I noticed, the crosshairring in the 109 cockpit is to small.

When I saw the first movies on this sim, I was left with a fowl taste. It looked cookie-cutter and lacking compared to the IL2 series.

After following the development, I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm convinced that the developers poured their heart and soul into updating the game engine. The screen shots progressively got less cartoony and these cockpit shots are simply amazing. They are at least on par with the cockpits we have in PF. Also, I've been assured from developer comments that this will be just as much of a sim as anything out there.

I'm not expecting it to shatter new ground. However, with the focus on a single player campaign, it would be nice to have an escape from the senseless bickering and whining that I see online in PF. I always found the dynamic campaign to be very weak in the IL2 series and online is most enjoyable. Plus BoBII will get my fix till 1c's BoB hits the shelves.

One thing though, which Revi is right? I thought someone found that some documents were mis-interpreted and the smaller dia site should actually be bigger, like what we have now in PF.

when I checked trackir homepage they said all future sims from oleg will have 6 dof
but the il2,fb and pf will not

so it should be very trackir friendly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But this one is not made by Oleg and 1C... it's a remake of the old Battle-of-Britain Sim by Rowan Software...

BOB11 is definitely worth a look. I was disappointed to hear that the brutally ugly in-flight map has not been upgraded. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

There is no reason to NOT be excited about this. I can't understand it, but some people think that anything not done by 1C Maddox Games is not good. CFS3 has things that are better than what we have in FB/PF, and that's OK. Competition is good. Competition improves the breed. Stagnation is bad and doesn't improve anything- without something to be challenged, nothing gets better. 1C Maddox games' BoB will have something to compete against, aspire to, and be compared to. Good! BoBII looks very nice and it's only right that if you like that type of thing, to check it out

If you like Volkswagen's last years' model a lot, but their new one is better, what's wrong with test driving it and seeing if you like it? And if Acura makes a car you like more than either this year, what's wrong with buying the new Acura instead of staying with last year's Volkswagen? Get what's best for you

PS-
I'm more interested by the lanscape than the cockpits. Am I dreaming, or does it seem that I might be able to actually recognise landmarks and shapes of cities and the countryside, and fly a course between them like they did in real life?

It's a car. Made by Honda? Mid level luxury/performance. Nice autos, actually

Acura is Honda's luxury division. Like Lexus with Toyota and Infinity with Nissan. All Japanese car manufacturers btw.

Well, one look at Oleg's BoB compatible Rola's BoB-Poland and France Simulation BoB-France websites shows there is no competition for Oleg in base content -- ie planes and combat theaters -- and original thinking (Oleg says he is attracted to Spanish Civil WAR).

Shockwave BoB will be 3rd Party Mod friendly to enhance the base planeset, but I don't trust the 3rd Party BoB community to mod 1939 Poland and 1940 France. They will jump straight into modding 1944 Western Europe. *Fantastic* work Be Sure but not very original. Been there, simmed that.

Where Oleg faces stiff competition here is in Marketing and Offline campaign development. If I depended on UBI Marketing I would have never learned about the FB. Worse, Oleg has an exploitable weakness -- he personally dislikes Dynamic Campaigns, and it shows. However, Shockwave BoB will not be releaced with a Mission Editor, although one may be added later. That is crucial for me, and Oleg is one of the top Masters of the Mission Editor industry.

Those pits look very good and not as cartoony as I expected; they're certainly better than the corresponding Il-2 pits (is there a Bf110 to compare as I'd say that is in the top 3 Il-2 pits going?)

I also agree that the landscape looks a lot better.

Big questions are: what are the FMs like? How is the DM modelling? Has any pre-emptive whining caused a mismatch?

Any competition for Il-2 can only raise the bar which would be welcome after PF.

Ta,
Norris

Looks like its gonna be a good alternative http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Will try it, thats for sure. The first one was a great game for its time. The sheer amount of planes was unheard of at that time, it really immersed you in the feeling of a big battle.

Must be better than CFS3, and so worth a try!

The cockpits look nice but flat, are they 2D or 3D?... I might check it out when it's released, but then again maybe not... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif between FB and Lock On FC, I have plenty to fly...

I want it for the good old RTS style campaign you can play. And then for kicks get into a dog fight if you feel like it.

It's not going to beat IL-2 FM, but it should be fun and strategic.

(man I'm glad they finally have some cockpit screen shots up)

One thing that does stand out in the scenic view is that roads look fairly random, which is so much better than FB's dead straight ones with sudden angular turns into more straight runs. Not sure why Oleg's team opted for this peculiar road system - a minor criticism for some, no doubt, but I think good scenery adds to the immersion of any game.
Some witter on about scenery having no significance when dogfighting, but taking off and landing is just as important and a sense of belonging to one's surroundings is a vital ingredient when judging distances, angles of approach etc.

Nice to see correctly working reflector sights instead of the **** in some sims, cough CFS3 cough.

Competition is always great in the gaming industry. In the end I imagine this BOB will have its strong points, particularly the offline campaign depth and smart AI. If nothing else, maybe this will encourage 1C to work harder in these aspects of the IL-2 series.

Looking forward to the reviews. If it's good the game would certainly appeal to this RTS/sim gamer!

These cockpits look merely o.k. to me. Maybe better than the very worst FB pits (P47?), but worse than most of the ones we have now. I thought screen shots of the flying looked really good until I downloaded a movie of game action. It reminded me exactly of Rowan's old BoB and looked actually kind of lame. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I liked the sounds and effects in BoB2, planes and FM's are said to be right on, but the lack of any Multi-player will keep me from buying it. I think I have played IL2 series maybe total of 1 hr off-line. On-line is where it is at.

I guess we can hope that they add multi-player soon after release.
