Watching the AC2 E3 Trailer found here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVWhWsgHzKM

In particular parts... 1.50 (fight scene at carnivale) and 3.00 (using the hidden gun)... are they using real actors and a green screen or is it all computer animation?

The way the clothing on Ezio moves and stretches you can think there is a real body underneath. If it's not a real person, the computer animator is simply brilliant!

Thoughts please. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I think its all animation. The three episodes about Ezio's father were real actors with a green screen though...

the CGI trailers used by firms at events such as E3 cost a fortune to make as they do it all top of the line animation, also since these are not rendered in real time (like how a game works) the can do the same as a movie would for special effects and pre render the animation (a low quality one can take several times it's length to render) then record it as a video allowing them to play it in real time at a much high quality than is possible by any hardware out at this time.

look at films such as Avatar a lot of that is CGI but at times it does match in really really well with the real life things, CGI has come a long way in the last few years so it is getting easier and easier for them to make something look real that isn't. quite a few people can still spot the difference but it is becoming less noticeable. (and that's a good thing if you watch some of the old films that have been done to blu-ray)

Dumb question here but do you think they'll ever be able to make games actually look like the E3 trailer? cause that would be insane!

It would be too hard probably though cause as Cas said it costs a fortune to make those clips http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
Just thought i'd ask. Again sorry if it's stupid http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

I think that give it a few decades and we will see games that are practically lifelike! Will be insane!

It is CGI.

ahh - now i see - the making of video in the related videos breaks it down. It does look very small scale model though. If they can improve on that factor then games would be awesome!

Still its just architecture and some fauna and its all looking amazing but the hardest part in computer rendering and video games is humans I believe.
Or is it? Knowing after all the movies ive seen with CGI it is mostly humans that gives away the realistic look.
