View Full Version : I have a confession to make

Well I have a confession to make and have to come out of closet. I have been known to drink a beer or two. I have been known to like to look at naked women. I have used profanity before and was known in my youth to expierment with herbs.

Here goes I am a flight sim junkie. I have many books on aviation and war. Love to watch documentaries and movies.

I have a Cooper type A-2 flight jacket that I wear at times while flying. And go to airshows.

I have been flying flight sims for ten years. Have Trackir and X-52.

Now I have to admit wife gave me for birthday Saitek pro rudder pedals. All I can say is wow. Now stepping on the ball has real meaning. New deminsion in coordinate straight turn. No more twisty. What have I been missing all theese years.

I have to say I guess I am lucky one because installation was a breeze and no problems.

I have to come out of closet now and admit I have rudder pedals. I guess the support group for this habit is your group you fly with.

Thanks all for your support and help.

Desperate flight sim junkie.

Hi Tater.

I'm knightflyte.

You must understand there is no cure. But with friends support and a great online community there is hope for a heck of a lot of fun!

Welcome to the Rudder support meetings. There's nothing to b ashamed of.....and admitting the problem is the gateway to flight sim happiness.

I...

I too...

I have loads of military avaiation books and another package arrived today. I have an X-45 and loads of flightsims. I am taking the family to the UK next month to see family but have been secretly planning if I can slip off for a day to NWM Duxford. I also got Saitek pedals for Christmas and it feels sooooo good

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Oh that feels so much better.

Now where is that package with Black Cross Red Star V2?

I remember a few years ago the pimply faced youth at some game outlet who sold me a set of CH Rudder pedals .. he laughed in my face and looked at his buddy who was smirking behind the counter. Can't do without them though. It grows and grows .. this hobby does .. got three monitors now and Triplehead2go but the monitors are not compatible so the plan is to save up for 3 LCDs. It's too much fun to back away from it. Because of this hobby I'm getting younger every day and my hair's starting to grow back http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Am I the only one who found the pedals tough to get used to after using a twisty stick for years?

Hi, my name is Sensei, and I have Simped-Vario rudder pedals. I also have a CH Stick and throttle. And trackIR....with the new clip thingy.

It gets worse.

I also have several flight instrument modules from GoFlight...mounted in a console I built myself.

Not done.

For Christmas the wife got me a ButtKicker off ebay.

I'm going to need about 84 steps.

12 won't cut it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You're not gonna like the 83rd step, sensei. You have to give all those things away. This assures you of not falling of the flight sim wagon.

Welcome to the club Stanger! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Lets see, for the the total outlay of software;
IL-2
IL-2 FB
Aces Expansion
Pacific Fighters
= $160 or there abouts over 4 years. $40 bucks are year for entertainment? Not bad.

40 bucks a year for lasting entertainment is pretty reasonable, no addiction there, no sir!

Then you start down that slippery slope of expansions and accessories! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Analog CH Fighterstick (sadly deceased after years of service)
MS FFB stick (also sadly deceased, miss the FFB)
Saitek X52
Saitek X52 Pro
Saitek Rudder pedals
Ergodex DX1
TrackIR 4
TrackIR Proclip
Altec Lansing headset for comms
Spiffy mounting fruniture to mount the HOTAS on a chair (thanks again bud!)
New office chair to mount the HOTAS on
Samsung 8ms 19" LCD

I am now eyeing either a Buttkicker or an iVibe for even more immersion, as well as a second LCD so I can see all the OTHER stuff I have up when flying. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have come to the conclusion that as a result of my "hobby" I cant afford a wife! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have to admit that I got rudder pedals for X-mas too...I am travelling this week and it is hard to be away from my pedals. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about them.

I have another problem...I have diecast...and its getting worse because I got diecast because I became tired of building models and painting them with my airbrush...now I have enough models and diecast that I must bring them into the living room and put them on my bookshelves next to all my Military books. I sit in my recliner, next to my magazine rack full of flight journal magazines and spin the propeller of my diecast Jug while I contemplate going back online....

It gets worse...I am married and my wife is feeding my problem as she got me as a gift a "discovery flight" at the local airport. Where I live, there are many cropdusters in the area. If I get hooked on that it could get serious.

Thanks for your support

Now I don`t even notice them, even though I use them all the time.
