I do believe you are not able to toggle prone/crouch on off at will (I.E going prone in the middle of street) but we do know that altair will crouch in dynamic situations (Balancing on beams while not moving is an example) though

Ya that is what I figured

eliteassassin69

maybe by pressing A which is legs when you need stealth in a mission like hiding behind bush/window?

well in some videos (especially the one where he pickpockets someone a couple times) he gets a little sneakier looking when he's right behind the mark

but umm wouldnt it look kinda weird if a guy was creeping through town? He'd stick out like a Khajiit in Argonia! lmao first elder Scrolls joke/analogy, what do u guys think?

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gifwhat marrick said.... (I dont understand what spazoo said either http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

and moqqy didnt you read where I said that it could be used in info gathing missions? it would would make sense that you could crouch to hide behind a table or some low object? at night I guess it would hard to be noticed.

Interview somewheres I don't remember but Jade specifically said no night and day cycles and the game time will be set

10-10-2007, 08:21 PM
really? oh well. well crouchin could be useful in back alleys also

EDIT:
oo ooo I found a new vid with it. its at around 1:00 hes about to strike a guy wit sword, other guy attacks him and he instantly turns around http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Here it is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/108159.html)

also at 2:20 crouching would be useful so you can be seen less.

LOL I didnt know guards could attack each other! awsome! when i buy it ima get close so they swing and get out of the ways so they hurt each other and *neck stab* http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
cant wait for it!!!!!!

Crouching for when your sneaking behind guards on roof tops. Why wouldnt you be able to crouch in the game in the first place? I would think that would be a necessity and would add more strategic elements to gameplay.

I'd really like to see the video/article where Jade says there is no day/night in the game...

On topic: It would be kind of silly to be unable to go into a crouch stance, in this game. However, the prone position is relatively useless for a game like this... it's not like there's going to be a sniper rifle or anything. >.>

P.S. Edit: I got your joke, Spaz.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=164006 There's your night/day info

EDIT:"It isn't completely freeroaming though, as instead of a dynamic day/night cycle, your missions take place at a set point within the plot, but you are still free to wander outside it." I should quote it to be nice it's under the Middle Feast header by the way

anywho we've seen Altair crouched for sure (I highly doubt prone seriously... but ya never know) but we've only seen Altair crouched on beams and posts and such so my best guess is you'll be able to crouch only on beams and posts and such http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif and y'know high points on the map

^ In that article this is what it says:

"You see, not only will the jiggling of the controller help you pick out something to hang on to, the vibrations also become more intense as your grasp on that ridge weakens and your grip gives way, with lethal consequences."

So, I'm wondering if you can accidently lose your grip, and fall, if you climb somewhere that there is barely a ledge?

ya maybe im just to used to splinter cell...but standing stealth doesnt seem to stealthy to me. Plus crouching adds to the silence of the feet, as opposed to just walking up to a guy. Again maybe its the splinter cell in me.

RetiredHatch
10-12-2007, 07:45 PM
Well this isn't sneaky stealth it's social stealth so try to think of that instead http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif and also if they don't see you then they don't see you and if you notice Altair takes very light foot steps... not to mention it's probably noisy

No, it isn't more silent. The opposite. It's hard to keep your balance if you're crouching. You're the most silent when relaxed and walking.

'tis true... you try being uber stealthy when crouching, its made especially hard when you're also trying to NOT fall over... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

okay I understand theres prob not gonna be prone. but crouching would be useful to hide when approching the guard so you can go behind a crate or someting lowlying. and when he turns around u rush him.

and you can crouch by maybe using l.trigger to slow down and eventually crouch

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif ziggy closed my third post http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif this one is the only one who has survived lol. need to make smarter posts......

Yeah, but AC isn't a shadow stealth game, so you most probably don't need to crouch behind any barrels so they don't see you.

for infiltration and side mission parts you do need stealth and you can use crowd cus that would be weird. a monk party in the targets building or sumting lol

Yes, you can use the crowd. And I don't think crouching behind some crates is the best way to hide.

eliteassassin69
10-13-2007, 12:38 PM
..... but dont you have to infioltrate the targets builkding? cant use social stealth there.

moqqy
10-13-2007, 12:46 PM
In some mission(s), yes. Why can't you use social stealth there? There might and probably will be some kind of monks. And as I said, it's not like your best option for stealth is crouching behind some crate...

I think that if you're crouching behind a guard, since his eyes are on his head and not his legs it'll reduce the chances of him seeing you plus makes it easier to tackle him down if he notices, because you'd be pushing his legs out from under him. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Anyway, I also think it'll be a biiit of a strain to crouch all the way to a guard's back to take him out. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

but..... but .....but.... WHY DOESNT ANY1 UNDERSTAND WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif argh school is useless for me >.<

anyhoo I mean that it could be useful WHEN they look your way and you are coming their way you could hide(by crouching behind object) then they turn around and you knife them.

Toyotama
10-13-2007, 07:20 PM
I've seen something similar to that in the videos, but only when there's a sentry on a building's roof that he stays holding onto the ledge (assuming Altair isn't already on the roof)until the guy turns away, at which point he climbs up and sprints at the guy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

eliteassassin69
