Since I have too much time on my hands I decided to put together a little guide to know when the Ai is dead. Please respons with any additions or comments.

White smoke: fuel leak, keep shooting.

Light Black smoke: oil leak, Some Ai will get an engine seizure quickly, others like the P-39 go forever before seizing, so keep shooting.

Dark Black smoke&flames: Ai is on fire,(DUH). fighters are finished, bombers may fly for awhile but should crash soon.

Dark black smoke w\o flames: Fire that went out. If coming from a fuel tank on a bomber, its a crapshoot if fire will reignite. Fighters usually relight\blow up soon.

Control surfaces fall off: AI should crash soon, since agility is greatly reduced, finish them off.

Wing\fusealge fall off: this should be obvious, IT'S DEAD

A note about killing bombers: Since FB bombers tend to be hard to kill without cannons, only break off if several important things fall off. Bombers minus an aileron or part of an elevator will keep flying along, so aim for engines. If the bomber has a smoking engine(or even 2) keep shooting. If an engine catches fire or stops(on a 2 engined AC) the AI is doomed, but if the engine stopped, a little more shooting may not hurt. If the crew bails out, its as good as dead.

for all your bomber shooting needs, make passes from say 1500 meters alt advantage,wait until you almost passed them from above,roll over,and dive straight down.(90 degree angle) then open fire at 200 meters and hopefully at 600+ speed(seems to be only speed AI can't supersniper you with lasers) and dive for another 200 meters, then pull up vertically with power full open, climb to the same alt as before and repeat,it's the safest way to get u out,but also the hardest to hit
