What a good time that was. For starters, since I have the Striker Extreme MoBo back in, I had to take the time to redo ALL of my buttons http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif That was quite a chore. I was pretty sure I got them all...I didn't. With less than 8 minutes left in a Spits v 109s mission I decided to take off anyway. DANG!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif I forgot to put V-Sync back on!!! Oh well, I'll deal with it. NOW WHAT?!!!The landing gear is not going up in my Spit and the manual raise gear isn't working either!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif Still flying I exit to the control menu to try and fix it without crashing...ok, I got it fixed. Now my elevator trim is all backwards!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif This just keeps getting better and better. Well, THAT I can deal with for now. Two minutes left now on the desert map with the water and ships on it and I didn't see a single bogey.
Quick exit and turn V-sync back on. Get back into HL and join the next Spits v 109s game. Everything seems to be going ok. I flew 2 sorties...for the BLUE team. I thought I would do something a little different. The first one I took up a 109G6 and started shooting up a twin engine bomber-too far away to tell which kind exactly. Got him smoking and leaking good and one hit to MY engine and it froze up instantly. Then some other guy comes in behind me and shoots up his entire ammo load of MK108 rounds and still didn't bring that bomber down...he sprayed all over the place but didn't hit it once http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif He got to close to it and was promptly dispatched by the gunners. I safely glided my wounded 109 back to base and barely made it to the runway. It took my gear off, but hey, I made it on the ground safe and sound http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
The next sortie I took up a 190. Got it up to 4,000 meters and waited. Finally there were 3 Mitchells headed over to bomb our factories and two other Blue team members were headed over to intercept them as well. After a minute or two I caught up to them and fired upon the last bomber, setting the starboard engine on fire, and without getting hit once. I was pretty happy. I didn't bother to engage that one again as I figured he/she was a goner The other Blue team fighters took out the other bombers before I could get to them.
All in all it was a good HL experience for having been so long away from it. I just thought I would share this with you all and to anyone who has not yet installed HL on their machine.

You need to make sure that you back up the following:

Config
Missions
Paint Schemes
Users (Thats where your stick settings are.. )
Records (In case there are any tracks you want to save)
Quicks (Got some favorite QMs)
NGen & DGen (In case there are any campaigns you started)

and lastly... your stick profiles.

Now ask me how many times I had to reset everything or start from scratch before I figured that one out... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The problem is not the backup of all that stuff. Heck, I have backups of my backup. I do appreciate the friendly advice though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
It is the fact that whenever I unplug my USB controllers and do not plug them back into the EXACT SAME ports, the buttons and axes are not recognized the same as before.
As an example, I could go to the control setup and push the EXACT SAME BUTTON for the same function as before, but instead of showing as "Button 4 ID4" it will now register as "Button 4 ID2" or something similar to that...so in game if I do not notice this change, many of my buttons are switched around and now do different things. That's why I had to go back in and set up every single button again. I have had to do this several times before and I cannot explain why.
