I can't wait to set up some Naval missions with the Full Mission Builder and try out some of the new aircraft againest the ships we are getting on Ace. The Tirpitz!!!!! Wow!!!!!
To bad we didn't acquire a few more of the twin engine aircraft or multi-engines to boost the fire power up a notch.
What a Great Game!!!!

Is there anything that would survive attacking the Tirpitz... and have the chance of sinking it?
Maybe some high flying B-17's or some Pe-8's??

I was strafing some ships the other day and was fascinated to see hits all over the bridge. It looked like sparks flying and very similar to gun camera footage I've seen from WW2 Pacific strafing runs.
The most amazing thing to me about this sim...is that people actually find something to complain about.
Most times...I go on a flight...go to exter view and spend 20min just glorying in the beauty of the models, landscapes and water. I dont even have to shoot anything. Marvelous.

I saw a erupt on a ship last night on the VFC server. Flak got me, but I watched the rest of the attack from the waterline. It looked a strafing Bf110 might have done some damage, but I don't know for sure. In any case, the fire raged for a while, then went out, although black smoke continued to billow out. It's cool that the firefighters on board actually put out the fire.

http://site.voila.fr/stw_max_sterling/tirpitz.jpg

The tirpitz after a long, drawn-out battle with russian battleships and cruisers. This thing just won't die. Note that all the turrets have their own damage and are destroyed independently.

It soaks up damage a bit too well, actually. 15 5000Kg bombs destroyed everything on its surface, yet left it floating. It took 10 torpedoes to finally sink it.

Nice pics.

I noticed playing around today that rail cars have a secondary explosion and then burn for a little bit a few seconds after being hit. Rather cool.

Wow! Looks great.

Could somebody tell me if this is only for the new ships or do the old ships also burn if damaged?

Is this the 1.22 or the AEP feature? If it came in AEP, then it's bit odd. I understood that the AEP is technically same as 1.22. If there are new features (the flaming and smoking ships), then shouldn't it have a new version number (1.23 or something)???

Now they only need to add some sailors jumping off the burning deck and it's perfect http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Cheers

It applies to both old and new ships. However, the detailed damage model is for the tirpitz only so far. But still, when moderately hit, good ol' marat will start to smoke and burn too.

And i don't see what you mean with AEP being the same as 1.22. The version number is 2.0 on the startup screen......

If they had put that running animation they have on attacked convoys to the ships it would be perfect! Men run when vehicles attacked. Have men run when ships severely damaged. I can`t see why it couldn`t be implemented! I may ask Oleg about this!

Oh, I see. Somehow I had a picture that AEP is technically 1.22. Sorry, my fault. So AEP also makes some technical changes and not just adds new planes (well, the burning ships certainly need some hacking).

So AEP is 2.0 and the latest non-AEP is 1.22. After this they have to make two branches of patches (I think). I hope that if they have made any fixes they also introduce them in non-AEP patches.

My understanding is that 1.22 is the last patch for the non-expanded version. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

For those of you that have AEP just play the Tirpitz trak file movie and you can watch the Tirpitz get sunk by a flight of Stuka's after being dive bombed.
