I thought mine was the VIIC for a long time, until I FINALLY got my IXC and holy moly... I LOVE that thing... it's so large it gives you that feeling of power, and the AA guns are no joke....

I like the VIIC and have used it quite a bit so thats the favorite for now. I had the IXC once and yes it is a big mother! What happened? New patch and I restarted career. Getting close to getting another IXC.

Typ IXD/2 is the one for me. Huge range and lots of torpedoes. It´s well worth its slow diving time...

Iam using my faitful IXC 108 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I tryed a IX D2 and they are real huge but unfortunatly, lots of bugs in them.

They are to large to fit in an harbour whit docks inside a "sub bunker" They get stuck in there.

Also when i load the external torps the loading screen got messed up and i can put the torps on any place at the screen except on the place where they should go.

Type IXB

VIIC

The typ IX isn't right for the style of attack that I use, it's just too big.

I do switch to the XX! if I get the chance..

I reckon the type VII-b is my favourite

I love my type IXC. I was actually quite happy with my IXB but was aware I would probably need the extra range as America was soon to join the war. The IXB wouldn't give me enough hunting time off the coast I wouldn't imagine.

My favorite Man 'O War is the type IXB. I like the souped up version especially. I suppose I am a hold over from CAoD. I loved the type IX then and still love it now. Give me 8 20mms and let me go to work! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

IX-C. I've not regretted it since I switched to Lorient from Wilhelmshaven and upgraded from my VII-B.

The thing I least liked about the VII's was not having 2 aft torps. I find the 2 aft torps of the IX-C come in very handy when attacking convoys. After my initial attack on the merchants (i.e. the bow torps are all empty), I use them for sinking more ships, or attacking escorts if I get hunted (very useful for this, especially with acoustic-guided torps in 1943 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

For short patroling the VIIB or C is great. For those long patrols the IXC would be nice, but seeing I can't afford the renoun to get that, I'll go with the IXB. Which I'm currently using, fully upgraded.

I have 25 patrols with the VIIC under my belt. I love it, but for more torpedoes I have switched to a IXC. Love that too, although it is less manouvrable in the vertical plane.

I probably played the IX-C the most. That was in a career that started in 1939 with a Type II-A, through to a VII-C, then a IX-C, and finally a Type XXI (bombed and sunk in late '44 on initial mission).

Given that I at least survived with the IX-C under the most challenging conditions, I'd have to say I preferred that.

I did draw some conclusions about the distribution of crew skills from that long career. I decided that AA and gunnery skills aren't really worth it. Didn't get used all that much and although I survived my aerial encounters while taking out maybe a half dozen planes, the renown payoff didn't justify the risk. Better to just crash dive...

Type VIIC I've taken some serious poundings in this tube and its never let me down. 26th patrol in '43 and things are starting to get a little hairy with the air-patrols, just upgraded to the VIIC/3 conning tower with the heavy flak; not so sure I like that upgrade.

I love the IX and the VIIB

I prefer the VIIC. It has good maneuverabilty, which I really appreciate, and is available reasonably early in the war. With a shorter range, I also end up being assigned closer-to-home missions, so I don't spend my entire career sailing to the far corners of the globe.

The IXB or C I dont know. Ive goten home with 1 ruder and 1 prop and no stern planes. A depth charge went off right behind me.DAMM Thoes DD got good aim.

Don't bet on that. My last two patrols BdU has sent me 9000+ km away from Bordeaux first one was almost to the Keys and this one I'm now I've been ordered to patrol FV-96, thats past the Southern tip of Africa. How does Donitz expect me to get his boat home with a sail run up the observation scope?
