If you bail out or crash or something, but still live, how come it always says you failed? Plenty of world war two pilots lost their planes, but they kept their kills and everything. In Il2 my yak pilot just lays in the snow freezing his face of for hours an d then if you quit mission it doesnt give you credit for your 3 kills.

Well I don't think it is always the case, often you fail the mission because you bailed over enemy territory and were captured. That is one thing that annoys me though, apparently if you bail into enemy territory there is a 100% chance you are captured. Unless there already is one, there really ought to be a range near the front line where there is still a chance of escaping.

hey lets model the pilot, you can control where he goes, maybe take him to the local pub, or go down to Lufty area and single handed kill 5000 planes with a .50 be sure http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It all depends on what the mission requires you to do to succesfully complete the mission. If landing at your base is a requirement (Mission Complete message is displayed), then you must do that.

If the Mission Complete message displays prior to your landing, then you must survive the mission on your side of the lines (land, crash land or bail out).

HEY! Thatd be fun. If you bail or crash land it turns into an FPS. I wish theyd do that. Sweetness.

Bad, bad, bad advice here.

rockgardenlove, are you flying offline in Campaign? If so, you need to RESTART your Campaign, but first change just ONE thing in your difficulty settings to OFF:

No Instant Success (switch this to OFF)

Now with this off you will not have to restart the mission if you survive the battle. You will only need to restart if you:

Die.
Get captured in enemy territory.

p.s, I also should add that even if you fail the Mission, you`ll still be able to carry on, but not if you die or are captured - which is realistic.

Sorry to keep adding, but I cannot edit.

You also have a chance to escape from enemy territory (it`s not much but a chance), so don`t switch off just cos you bailed in badland!

Hope fully you guys are describing the WW2 game of the future!

You pilot planes like in FB/PF, then if you get shot down it goes into Call Of Duty fps mode and you can run around shooting german soldiers in germany...and maybe escape or maybe...

You get captured and it turns into 'The Great Escape' in first person!...

And then..... (somebody stop him now please) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So that's what that is for. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif I am playing for so long and didn't know that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

nothing to add really, it was answered. maybe what 've already guessed, the farther from the frontline you crashland/bail, the lesser chance of escaping. plus, it depends on the presence of allied/enemy units http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif land near some enemy tanks or trucks and it's pretty much over http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Is that tick off option for Forgotten battles? Because I am having the same problem with the original IL-2 and the menu in diffiulty does not display that message. Also, how do you know what land is friendly or unfriendly?
