I know this has been suggested, but think itd be a fantastic setting. after a quick google i found this- http://www.pixdaus.com/single.php?id=98022 just look at that and tell me it doesnt look like an assassins creed game! i think this time would provide the perfect atmosphere. wikipedia- 'During the 19th century, London was transformed into the world's largest city and capital of the British Empire. During this period, London became a global political, financial, and trading capital.' there were slums, and widespread crime, jack the ripper for example. any firearms were still relitivly primitive, especially in early victorian times, which is gd for an assassins creed game i think. of course the countryside would also be interesting, and other cities such as manchester, which was at the heart of the industrial revolution. london though in particular would be a brilliant setting.

Maybe its because I'm english and find the prospect of playing a game set in London not all too exciting, but I'd prefer some slightly more exotic place, which is essentialy anywhere in the world but England, the boring-capital of the world IMHO. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's probably going to be set in France simply for this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rennes-le-Ch%C3%A2teau

Time period is up for debate but there's not much to choose from.

you do know London now is a pretty much entirely different city to what it was back then don't you? and it wasn't just because of the Germans helping with remodelling.

As awesome as this is, I agree with you. It should be set in England. But this should be in the right thread.

Victorian London has a great cast of historical characters, like Renaissance Italy - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Springheel Jack, Jack the Ripper, Queen Victoria herself. Plus it would make sense for a third historical period to be that period - as the games will go forward in time, and the Auditore family could easily go to England in time, unlike, say, Japan.

Of course its a different city, but I find still England, both past and present, to be a yawn fest. :/

I would really like it to be in London at some point around the 18th-19th century.... and as it's the capital and, as mentioned, the biggest City in the world, they could go all out and make it absolutely huge in terms of scale... like 2 times bigger than Venice... that said, it would be hard to recreate the streets as the were then, much harder than say Venice, where at least some of the original architecture is still there

Maybe it's because i live in the UK but London seems a tad boring just my opinion though. Jack the Ripper may be a good character to include if it is set in London which even with my reservations i do think could work, but Spring Heeled Jack was more supernatural as most of the things i've read about him were of abnormal characteristics like glowing red eyes and the fact he could jump buildings and i don't think he could have been climbing as people would know the difference that and he was a killer(from what i've read though he didn't always kill. And yes i know the whole thing is fiction but i don't really think any supernatural elements would fit the AC world unless you count the weird squid which is fairly normal but you know what i mean...... i hope

/signed. scaling big ben would rule. but Victorian London without Di ckensian orphans and street urchins wouldn't be right, and we all know than an AC game can't have kids in it...

there are actually detailed pictures, architecture designs and pretty much inch perfect maps of London from around that time, so remaking Victorian London would while be massive and complex on a scale of the city, it would be one of the easiest things to recreate accurately as the city, as it's lay out and it's buildings are well documented.

you have to think due to the British having the largest empire in the world they did a lot to keep track of things, so a lot of stuff is well documented and easily accessible over the net and other sources.

England (Britain) has a lot of history and the more recent (last few centuries) of it is actually really well documented compared to some other places.
