We were told bad things about the Soviets during the Cold War. I must admit, I resisted The IL-2 Sturmovik series of flight sims until February of 2003, thinking it couldn't be as good as MS CFS Series. Well, I was wrong, The IL-2 series blows MS out of the sky with SvAk cannons. IL-2 Series and Pacific Fighters are the BOMB! Literally! Oleg, Ilya, and the whole team, you have made a believer out of a Cold War Vet. I salute ya'll as Conquerers of the Flight Sim World. Your game has brought me countless hours of enjoyment over the last 1 and a half years.

How old are you?

I'm sure a lot of people here regret that they believed anything from the microsucks dev. team. Reguardless off nationality, the people with the greatest dedication and determination will make the best flight sims. It just so happens that everything happened in a benificial way for this flight sim community.

Nothing wrong with being from where ever you were born.... if you think about it, we all came from teh same place- our mother's ******!

A word of advice then : stay away from the 6DOF people. They will have you convinced that it's actually better to go back to the CFS series http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

So ironic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A single feature that I consider to be frills on the cake is taking up all of their efforts. Honestly, there's more to the sim than what a few people have the ability to do...

This game has alot to offer and its great fun to play!

Wellcome to Forgotten Board

My story. Despite being Military Aviation Enthusiast--Born~n~Raised in Ussia (Mississippi to be exact http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif), I resisted ALL flight sims up until 1995. Part of my thinking was "popular Hollywood planes" equals arcade gaming. Never bothered to look at a flight sim box beyond rolling my eyes at the Hollywood plane on the box cover. Flight sims just sounded "silly" in some way. Really hard core I was, or so I told myself.

Then, I was in CompUSA and saw the most weird bizzare thing I ever saw sitting on the shelf. A game box with [freak out] Su~27 Flanker on the cover--red stars and all. First thing I thought is "this is different, very different". Programmed by Russians not Hollywood. So DOS Flaker 1.0 became my first flight sim. Flaker 2.51 for Windows was my second flight sim, and I didn't like it, went back to 1.0 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Hanging out on Flaker webboard, somebody posted asking for "something to do" until LOMAC comes out (yes Flaker 2.0-2.51 was that bad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif . Somebody suggested FB. Looked it up and found another sim programmed by Russians not Hollywood. Flyable I~16 and MiG~3...certainly not Hollywood planes. So, this is my 3rd flight sim.

...Actually got LOMAC (from the creators of Flaker) just because the Demo showed perfectly rendered night sky with all stars down to about mag 5.5 and with correct star brightness, star colours, and star positions. Otherwise I don't touch LOMAC--I prefer crapp jets. Don't know why LOMAC still has that oversize arcade gaming moon.

FB Moon Rules! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Too bad the FB Moon phases are fixed on the map. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Welcome aboard airdale... I was an airdale too..... a long time ago.

This sim is awesome. Frankly the only reason 6DoF works with CFS is because they could get the code. Personally it is nice but .... I dont think I could take CFS in 6DoF. I couldnt take it in 3DoF. I was a die hard CFS fan... I though CFS1 was the greatest thing since jelly. Then after I upgraded for CFS3 I was in Best Buy checking to see if it came in and I saw that IL2 thing that I couldnt run before because I had a 233MHZ PC.. so on the recomendation of another simmer I bought it. I havent looked back. By the time Forgotten Battles 1.0 was released I was a die hard fan of Oleg Maddox and 1C. I never even knew the Russians had such an awesome airforce.
