well from the internet artical i read this morning that means thier gonna have to play the packers. and Farv's having a really great year.
But what's really bad for the Giant's is it'll be at Lambaugh Feild. And as Seattle found out....that's like going into the cave with the bear & a 22oz porterhouse straped to your neck. not good. with the weather there....good luck too em. they'll need it.

So far the playoffs are going as if the Newengland Patriots
had rigged the games.

The two most serious contenders knocked out.
Cowboys and Clots.

Pats and Giants in the Super Bowl!

I'm glad that the Giants avenged the early season loss to the Cowgirls. Not so glad that they have to go up against the Packers, because I'm a fan of both teams :P

I think it would be great if Favre went to the bowl to finish off the outstanding season he's had- So he can finally retire. (Though, it'll be a sad day when he does)

yeah Brett is one of my faovrite QB's. right up there with Montana & Namath. i tell i love Broadway Joe. what can ya say about a guy who is known for brashly telling the media that he guaranteed that his team would upset Don Shula's NFL Baltimore Colts in the third NFL-AFL Championship Game in 1969, and then delivering on his promise.

Yeah well.... we'll see that's for sure.... I had people telling me they wouldn't make it past the first round... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif A lot of them were Dallas fans too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif Now here they are going for the division...

I'm not calling it.. the Pack looks good... but even if they loose to the Pack.... they knocked Dallas out...... and for me, who's a Giants fan living in Northern Va, where I have to deal with all these rabid Dallas fans around here, since like roaches they are everywhere, ....I mean, it's bad enough when they smack the Skins around.. Me? I am a home team guy.. so the only time I root against the skins is when they are playing the Giants now, because being a Bronx boy and all Big Blue will always be #1 on my list with the Steelers in the AFC since Pitt is where my folks are from and it is a second home...

The Gints can beat the Pack... whether they will or not remains to gbe seen, but this is football... and anything is possible.... but AFAIC taking out Dallas in the playoffs is the next best thing to winning the division.

This stinks, the Bolts match up against the Colts better than any other team and beat them. But the Colts match up better against the Pats than any other team, while the Bolts do not match up very well with the Pats at all.

For all the Patsie haters out there, it would have been far better if the Colts would have won against the Bolts. The Colts give the Pats fits but the Bolts never come close to giving them fits. The Colts had the Pats beat back in November but got a little too cocky and started celebrating too early. This is the only reason the Colts lost that game.

Just as a curiosity: how many baseball caps are sold in the USA every year? Because it is omnipresent: I hardly can't recognize an American bloke if he doesn't wear one of those baseball caps.

Look at the pic, the only ones not wearing it are: two Asian-looking guys, a quite fat woman, an interracial couple, a German-looking intellectual man with glasses and a hooded weirdo with eyes like mothman. So, instead of 'minorities' or 'foreigners' you could use the less offending 'people-with-no-baseball-cap'. Ball caps are great. Practically the only other hat you can wear in America as a civilian male is a cowboy hat and I ain't doin' that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I use ball caps for the days I really don't want to make my hair look socially acceptable. I got dirty ones for labor and clean ones for right out of the shower. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Plus, a ball cap on my head makes my baby face look ten years younger. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I was more refering to the Colts getting cocky causing the Pat's win, mortoma.

I think the Chargers would be a more daunting adversary than the Colts. They are fired up. They AREN'T the same team as in the early weeks of the season. I expect a very very tough game betwixt the two.

I think it will come down to making Rivers carry the team. The Pats are very good at taking away an opposing teams strength.

Hopefully LT and Rivers will be healthy to play. I'm looking forward to this game. Pat's fan or Charger's fan.... the games just keep getting better and better. Can't ask more than that as a fan.

Chargers don't stand a chance, but good luck anyway. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Make sure you get the right hat!

If you are in the South a nice nascar hat, number 24 if you want beat up, number 8 if you want someone to buy you a beer.

If you are an older man, or a young African American, Don't Bend The Bill.

If you are young, make sure you buy one that looks old, maybe even a little tattered. Bend the bill in a nice curve.

If you are in your teens pull it down low.

If you are in the midwest a nice John Deere hat would work.

It seems that you would always be safe with a Boston Red Sox cap, they seem to be very popular. Well, any team that has just won their league seems to be in. Bunch of bandwagoners around here.

Out west, well the west is kind of a melting pot, so whatever goes out here.

Good Luck.

Nice job by the Giants. The "D" toughened up when they had to and Manning played well again!
I put $10 on a Chargers/Giants parlay. Both winning outright. Payoff was $191! I hedged it with the same parlay taking the points for both and pocketed another $28.
Gotta wait and see what the weather looks like to see if I trust the Giants to beat the Packers. If it's bad again this weekend I can't see another upset.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss pleaded guilty on Thursday to two minor traffic charges related to a driving incident in September. The plea agreement dismissed two other traffic counts and a marijuana charge.
Legal council for Moss entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor count of careless driving and a petty misdemeanor count of obstructing traffic with a vehicle.

The enigmatic wideout was ordered to pay $1,200 in fines and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Moss, who was given two days credit for time already served, will have the remaining 28 days of his sentence stayed as long as he doesn't commit any similar driving offenses.

Moss was arrested on September 24 for allegedly pushing a traffic agent a half-block with his car. According to police, the traffic officer tried to stop Moss from making an illegal turn. Police spokesperson Cyndi Barrington said Moss used his Lexus to push the officer, not stopping until she fell to the ground. The officer, Amy Elizabeth Zaccardi, is employed by the city but is not sworn police officer.

At the time, police also impounded the vehicle and said they found a small amount of marijuana in the car. Moss claimed the drugs were not his, adding that he had let other people use his car days before the incident.

--------------------------------------------
so he never hit a woman with his hands before...apparently hitting one with his Lexus doesn't count...now if it had been a ford or chevy well....how do you 'shove' a woman a block and a half with your car, eventually 'knocking her down' without actually 'running her over'???

I love Randy Moss - he plays for Americas Team, the Pasties.

And a head coach isn't usually fined a half a million dollars for NOT cheating...thats real funny too...hilarious - oh but I guess because the comish doesn't have the huevos to use the word cheating, well then it just is'nt cheating? riight.

Yep it'll be a pleasure to watch my Chargers roll up the score on the Pasties this Sunday -see all those clowns chewing on each other and melting down as their *perfect season goes spiraling down the drain.

Sunday can't come soon enough

I live in Wisconsin, so it's pretty obvious who I am cheering for http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif . It's a really big deal here, actually people are too obsessed with the packers (especially in more rural areas), so many local commercials shout "go Pack!" or other such cheery stuff at the end when the Packers have nothing to do with what they are selling.

Other big sports teams such as the Brewers, Bucks, or UW Badgers, PALE in comparison to Packer-mania, even when the Packers have not-so-good seasons... But it's hard not to catch it when it get's exciting as this, and Brett is playing the best he has ever played.. I have nothing against the Giants, but I didn't think the Seahawks were so bad and they got KILLED. If it wasn't for those 2 fumbles right off the bat, it very well could have been 49-3. If there, is a team to beat New England, it is Green Bay and the way they are playing right now.

It's been great seeing the Giants grow into the team they are. It was not too long ago that Coughlin looked like he couldn't control the team and penalties would hurt them. Their defence is fun to watch. Manning is going to be every bit the star his brother is. Kudo's for mantaining trust in your field goal kicker.

That was a tough fought game on both sides. It's a shame someone had to lose. Farve, your team is still young. you'll be back to the top.

Actually, did you see the punch either Seymour or Green threw. He had his blocker down and he gave him a 'pu$$ie" punch. Was more of a taunt than an actual blow, but still. Who knows if he was provoked, but it's not the first time he's done something stupid this year.

Its just bad form regardless.
Hardwick was jawing to the local press earlier this season about how bad a$$ the Bolts were for doing the same type of thing he's complaining about. Then you also have the pre-game mouthing off that is typical for SD. Ask the Pats about an opponent and you will get the following.
"The game is over and were focusing on the next opponent" or season as the case may be. No BS because Belichick wont have it. It distracts and draws payback. Lets face it the Pats hate SD and all the jawing.

I agree. I'm familiar with the "move on to the next opponant" philosophy of the Pats. They offer no excuses or complaints, win or lose. I think it's healthier. When they win I always hear them offering praise to the opponent.

As it should be. We're really dealing with degrees of greatness when talking about these professional atheletes, no matter who they play for.

I'm sure there's a LOT of things happening in the scrum that's not caught or penalized.

Plaxico Burress has made some amazing catches.

And this amazing statement:
His Giants may have better receivers than the Patriots' very deep group of Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte' Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney.

The response from New England? No laughter, no putdowns, no he-said-what?

Sauce for the goose ?

heywooood
01-26-2008, 09:11 PM
NE goose is cooked - NFL wants Manning matchup between SB champion sons of Archie next year...thats why Dungy suddenly decided not to call it quits just yet and why the Giants will win this game.

this years title goes to the Mara family and she-li because cheaters can't have it all and because NY owns the game...

Megalomaniac owners need to have total control of the outcome, can't leave all that attention and public adoration to lowly players and coaches - why do you think the trophy gets handed to the owner of the team first?
NFL is the only game where that happens, the Stanley Cup is handed first to the winning team captain as it should be - the game is (supposed to be) decided on the field - not in the owners box.

If the Pats win what conspiracy theory will you come up with so that you can justify the fact the Chargers lost. You and your home team should reserve your predictions/Trash talking for after the game. It would save you much egg on face.

(With gas prices hitting close to $4.00 a gallon this summer, and record profits being made by big oil.....with war still going on...... with the economy and real estate market stagnant.....with our national debt beyond responsible limits......blah blah blah.... you'd think there'd be something better to concentrate on.)

This whole camera thing is a riot. I've never seen any story take up a life of it's own like this one.

in light of the senate judiciary looking into the cheating scandal as it relates to the NFL's special anti-trust exemption and the new evidence that the cheating was not a one game issue but an ongoing Belicheat / Mangenius deal from way back - remember Mangini was Belichecks assistant at Cleveland as a 'film coordinator' before going to NE as an assitant coach...

Given the desire of the NFL to maintain a squeeky clean image and absolve itself of this embarassment by destroying the evidence (to the best of their knowledge) I would think it untenable to allow the Pasties to go ahead and have a perfect* season....besides - they really want to manipulate a Manning v Manning SB and imagine the amount of money they could draw from their sponsors if both Mannings had a ring?? WoW - certain NFL cronies must go to bed at night just drooling uncontrollably over it...

Thats why Eli was told to snub the Chargers - it would have put both brothers in the same conference - no SB....the fact that the lil worm agreed to it just shows he has no independant thoughts of his own...just a puppet.

Its all good though as the Bolts ended up with the better, tougher QB in the deal...now all we need is an NFL cronie to buy the team so we can get ours

Heywoood, you're jumping off into the deep end. On the other hand, it's great theater.

When you're done with the Manning vs Manning conspiracy, could you please explain why the Spurs always beat the Suns in the NBA playoffs?

Me, I'm (sorta) rooting against the nearest available Manning.

Basketball isn't a sport...but the reason it isn't manipulated like the NFL is the ratings and the commercial sponsorship value is nil by comparison.

NFL grabs more money than all other pro sports combined - especially with the right matchup - Chargers ruined their Colt v Pastie rematch and the NFL had to give back $$ to those sponsors after the Bolts overcame the stripes to win in Indy....the only way to recoup and at the same time set up their dream match between the Manning girls was to shaft the Bolts and the Pack (done and done) and give the eastcoast machine the Redsox / Yankees....
At the pre SB media circus this week all of the talking heads were complaining that the corporate sponsorships and player-product endorsements were waaay worse this year by tenfold over the last few years - that it was comical...no one interviewed on camera or radio could speak without first name dropping or product endorsement spewing and several local radio personalities were clowning the NFL over it.

All you have to do is think of the dollars - the NFL controls the officiating completely, including the offcamera replay booth joker...at first I thought it was to give Vegas some leverage, but the more I think about it the more I think there is more money in these matchups and controlling the playoff outcomes than the betting lines - besides - Vegas makes money anyways and likely has to give a cut to the NFL for the action. So they get that money already plus the extra sponsorship dollars for piecing together a match that appeals to the marketing side.
Call it theater if you want to - but those megalomaniacs are addicted to control and don't you think for one second that given the opportunity to do otherwise, they would leave these matchups to chance and let the players have anything to do with it...why do you think the commisioner hands the owner the VTL trophy?

and one more thing....the green helmet dots that indicate the one and only player on the field with a radio receiver - implemented to keep teams from having more than one player on the field with a radio in his helmet.

I wonder why it was a problem that had to be addressed this way....I wonder which team was found to be running more than one player out there with a helmet radio receiver??? I wonder which coach 'miss-interpreted' the rules on that one?

The game is rigged and I think it started with the 'tuck rule' game and that once the current NFL realised how easy it was, just by dropping a flag here or there, or not dropping one, or making use of the replay booth official to make a game changing call - well lets just say why go back to chance

Teams like the Seahawks and Chargers and a few others basically cost the NFL huge losses when they get in and I think we have seen the last of postseason games being decided on the field.

And don't hold the NFL up to me as some golden American example of fair play and decency - they still have a hand in burning the retired players on their pension funding and medical expenses not to mention this anti-trust law exemption status they enjoy and the way they have taken the price of the game to a corporate expense account only level...NFL is so owned now by big corporations that they pretty much have to do as they are told, because the teams don't pay those player salaries anymore...corporate america does.
The NFL was sold.

This is all based on the fact the Chargers lost so it must be cheating/rigged.

Lets see how your theory holds up today.

Blutarski2004
02-03-2008, 11:13 AM
We have it on good authority that the Patriots have already maneuvered their black-ops satellite, financed by money looted from the NFL players' pension fund, into a geo-synchronous orbit over the Phoenix stadium.

It's no coincidence either that Area 51 is situated so close to Las Vegas, America's capital of sports-book wagering.

In all seriousness - good luck to all and may the best team win.

horseback
02-03-2008, 11:36 AM
Simple enough--if the Pats (or both teams) get called for offensive holding twice or more in the first half, then we may be seeing a 'straight up' officiating job.

Not calling offensive holding favors the Pats, since their pass rush is not as good as the Giants' (which is not intended as a putdown; the Giants simply have an awesome D-line). The "let 'em play" philosophy always favors the team with the weaker pass rush and/or the more experienced quarterback. That's the Patriots on both counts.

heywoood's paranoia about officials is well-founded; for thirtyty years, Charger fans have watched their teams get thoroughly screwed by bad officiating. If Jerry Markbreit's crew was on the field, the game was over before it started. In '93, the Chargers finished 8-8 after an 11-5 season; in four close losses (Bears, Packers, and both Chiefs games), Coach Bobby Ross sent League headquarters film and protests of certain key calls, all of which the League acknowledged were incorrect (and San Diego residents felt were part of a systematic victimization), and had to reprimand the officiating crews, although the games' outcomes were not affected.

Just coincidentally, the next year, with the officiating crews painfully aware that they were being monitored, the Chargers made it to the Superbowl...

cheers

Are you kidding me? soccer is far more lucrative than football. Franck Ribery was just signed this year by FC Bayern Munich for over 25 million euros, that's 40 million USD.

Manchester United alone is worth 1.2 billion dollars, let alone the 19 other teams in the top flight of just that country alone, and their are 5 top leagues in Europe, let alone the S. American ones as well.
