Awesome. Really glad that Rome is in the game (hope they keep the free roaming aspect. Haven't played any of the other AC games except the main ones, so don't know how free you are in Bloodlines.) I'm really interested in what multiplayer will be like in this game.

I hope this is to AC II what Bloodlines is to AC I; Hell, we haven't had the PC version of AC II released yet.

I had a feeling they would have Rome in this considering we still play as Ezio but it should be awesome.

Wow, really excited about that it takes place in Rome. It should be quite awesome if Ubisoft manages to recreate the city like they did with Florence/Venice.
Quite curious about the "innovative" multiplayer as well. Hopefully it'll turn out to be something cool.

Oooh Rome. Awesome! Ya it seemed Rome was playable in AC2 at the end when you were running along the wall taking out guards. The rest of the city looked like you could go off an explore it. And Rome looks massive to. Looks like there's gonna be lots to do here. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Not to be a d*** or anything but if you actually look at the ground in the city it's foggy/water. They didn't really make it, it's just like a cardboard cut-out i think.

Anyhow, I do hope that this is like AC 2 Bloodlines or something because i don't want AC 3 to be with the same character as AC 2 and in a neighboring city. It will be so boring.

Sssssssshhhh. Don't give Ubisoft ideas.

I'm a happy camper. Rome exploration was something I desperately wanted in-game. For once, ask and ye shall receive? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I knew it wasn't playable, I meant it looked playble, as in it might be in a DLC or something. Which if this link at the top is true, then running around in Rome would be awesome. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It'd be cool if we could revisit the Vatican, aswell.

@Jimbo: In Bloodlines, you are allowed to free-roam and all that, but the city's are heaps small, so...

What I'd like to know, is why if it's just Episodes does the studio lead in that 3 pillars of design article keep referring to the one in Rome as a "Sequel"? Generally sequel means another full stand alone game, vs mere expansion pack.

It's going to be a stand alone game. I don't ever remember hearing that it was going to be an expansion.

Just because it's not goint to be the size of AC2 doesn't mean it's not it's own game.

Rome is certainly larger than any other city they've had in AC so far, and if all it's outskirts were used, it would also have some nice ancient castles and cities nearby.

I get the feeling they're calling it Episodes because it's content related to AC 2 in Ezio's lifetime as has been said, but the word Episodes almost implies there's some parallel stories to AC 2, vs a story that follows AC 2 as per a sequel.

Just seems to me calling it Episodes and a sequel is a contradiction of terms.

True. No denying that it's a continuation rather than a true sequel as was AC2. Still it could end up being much bigger than anticipated.

What I'd like to see is this continuation of AC2 being released on PC - and the prequels too. The reference to Cyprus at the Arsenale in AC2 was probably lost on thoe of us that don't have access to other platforms and / or don't know about the monastic Crusader orders.

So, I'm guessing it'll play very similar, and possibly even use ACII as a base? Then just have Rome be one giant city like in GTA, without having multiple other cities.

If I'm correct, Ubisoft has my wallet once more...

Better be for Xbox 360, and not some handheld.

I really doubt it's gonna be for the main consol systems...

of course it would be awesome, but i dont think so.

But in the notes for the last financial statements Ubi said they wanted to increase the frequency for releasing titles in their main IPs to every year (and include multiplayer in all releases). Unless there is going to be another AC game announced this year ... it would look like Brotherhood (assuming that is the name the Episodes game will be getting) will be for the major platforms.

This is good news, I was fairly certain it was going to be in Rome anyway since we saw it off in the distance in AC2. I guess it was just a background in AC2 but I was still fairly confident we'd go there, would seem silly to do Italy and not visit Rome.

Absolutely, I'd very upset if Ubi do it for console only, unfortunately I fear that's a real possibily as PC's do often get forgotten about these days.

Yea but it's really unfair...
I don't get it...
console games always get pirated first. The day on release you already see downloads for consoles.. But for PC with this new DRM.. It took a month to crack.. If they would improve their DRM they could make it uncrackable..
Just like send encrypted packets etc....
And then thye could sell it only to PC http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif hurreh!
