Hi all,

I'd like to add the P-400 and the Kittyhawk to the Russian stock in the Fighter career. (I.e. making it available to fly) How is this done?

Thanks in advance,
Fritz

Hey,

You could do worse than look here:

Be careful of the Pilots' Lounge though, it may rot your brain. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Hi Majbloodnok,

Thanks for taking the effort, however, I'm requested to register as a user in order to access this forum. Furthermore, have to submit my e-mail address in order to log on. I can't really be bothered with all this, and I don't like to get spam/end up on some secret data base somewhere.

Would you be so kind to copy/paste the answer and post it here?

Thanks and regards,
Fritz

Ah, I'd forgotten that. Here you go, cut and paste job (courtesy of mortoma, faustnik and Tolwyn, and probably others besides. S!).

SETTINGS to be added to the main IL-2 conf.ini file:
(provided by Tolwyn)

Note: If a variable has no established value (a 1 or 0 to denote on or off, or an absolute value like 50 (miles), then the comment character will NOT prevent the value from being read by the game. It is recommended that you intentionally mis-spell these values with an underscore in the middle of the word to essentially "disable" the variable; or, simply add them when desired. I personally mis-spell them with an underscore (_) so I at least have them in the conf.ini file to activate when I want them activated.

Code:

[DGEN]

; ------
; For commands that have no "value selection"...
; Intentionally mis-spell with an underscore (_) in
; the middle of the variable to disable - or just
; remove it from the conf.ini file.
; ------

NoAirfieldHighlight

AirIntensity=High
; Valid entries are: Low, Medium, High (Medium is default)

GroundIntensity=High
; Valid entries are: Low, Medium, High (Medium is default)

MissionDistance=40
; Valid entries are any whole number between 0 and 300

RandomFlights=5
; Valid entries are any whole number between 1 and 5

CampaignLength=Medium
; Valid entries are: VeryShort, Short, Medium, Long, VeryLong (VeryLong is default)

CampaignAI=Hard
; Valid entries are: Easy, Normal, Hard (Default is Normal)

MaxFLAK=100

; ------

MaxBomberSkill=2

Plane Names:

Use these names to add AI planes to missions. Open the .db file (example: Leningrad.db) for the particular campaign and add the exact name to the list of aircraft along with an appropriate number like " 10 A-20G".

!Warning! It seems that the new planes do not work with the old maps. Maybe we need another entry somewhere???
*Just got a reply from Starshoy that the patch will fix this*

To add a flyable plane type to a campaign add a correct name to the planesXXX.dat :

For example in the planesDeF.dat file you can add the FW_190A5 to the Kuban 43 campaign by inserting the name under the campaign headign like this:

[Crimea41]
BF_109E4
BF_109E4B
BF_109E7
BF_109F2
BF_109F4

[Crimea42]
BF_109F4
BF_109E4
BF_109E4B
BF_109E7
BF_109F2

[Kuban42]
BF_109F4
BF_109G2
BF_109E7
BF_109F2

[Stalingrad]
BF_109G2
FW_190A4
BF_109E7
BF_109F4

[Kuban43]
FW_190A4
FW_190A5
BF_109F4
BF_109G2

[Prokhorovka]
BF_109G6
BF_109G2
FW_190A5
FW_190A4

[Crimea44]
BF_109G6
BF_109G6Late
BF_109G6AS
FW_190A4
FW_190A5

[Lvov44]
BF_109G6Late
BF_109G6AS
FW_190A5
FW_190A8

[Balaton]
FW_190D9
FW_190A8
BF_109G6AS
BF_109G10
BF_109G14
BF_109K4

*********************************************

To change the class of an aircraft to the desired type create a classesXXX.dat file to match the planesXXX.dat file. In the file place the test:
planename class

ie:

FW_190A6 FIGHTER

Classes are: FIGHTER/BOMBER/JABO/LIGHT

*********************************************

To get a type of aircraft to display a specific skin add the skin name after a space next to the plane name in the xxx.db file. For instance to add Hammered's Fw190 skin to my Normandy BoE campaign I opened the Normandy.db file and added the skin name after the Fw190A6 line:

60 FW_190A6 Hammerd190A_JG54SummNoMark.bmp

Now the Fw190As all fly Hammerd's great skin.

******************

To add a Nationality to a campaign just add some appropriate squadron names into the xxx.db file under the [OOB] heading.

For instance in my Normandy.db file I added RAF squads under the [OOB] header and now the Spitfires I encounter have RAF markings (instead of USAAF markings if the squads are not added.

[OOB]
=I_JG26=I_JG1=15AF_31FG_308FS=_325FG_319FS=15AF_33 2FG_099FS=8AF_004FG=RAF_No081SQN=RAF_No091SQN=

There is also this guide on the forusm although it may not inlude PF aircraft

Hope this all makes sense.
