Is there any good book or documentary about the Mig3U?
I started using it 1 week ago...and i find it a really good plane, maeby the two machines gun arn't the best loadout ever, but in offline I can fight quick well against BF.And for me that is a fighter beginner the Mig3U is a really good plane: easy to flight.

If anyone has interresting things about it please let me know.

Uhm, i didn't know that the two Guns could fire separatley..this is not modelled in FB right?...150 rounds aren't really much. But 20mm ShVAK guns can cause huge damages.

do you know if anyone made a Za Rodinu, 122 IAP skin?
The one of the first main page pics.

Only 6 Mig3Us were made. Yhe VVS gave up on high altitude capability aircraft in favor of low alt tactical aircraft and fighters to operate with them.

In the early days of the sim the Mig3U was one of the "uber" planes, and it still is pretty good, for an early aircraft. And it does look really racey.

I read that the hybrid engine had oil problem on migU but it didn't affect the engine power..was the same thing on the others Mig3?

Whoa!finally i got this skin! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif thx

....its incredible how russians planes were able to make incredible evolutions at a very low speed withou loosing control. They are really much easy to fly that other planes. Anyone know what was the secret? I mean, is there an element that gave those planes this "ability"?..i I look to La and Mig, the only thing I notice is a large wings surface.

Not as much as far as I know. The hybrid engine was used for lack of MiG engine production. For a Dynamic Campaign where Luftwaffe gives a good high altitude bombing effort, the -3U would be useful. Looking at that MiG webpage, the MiG-3U was not even ordered to be developed until spring 1943, so don't think of it as a "1942" plane as listed in the game viewer, unless in a Dynamic Campaign the Germans force the Soviets into a radically different aircraft production focus...ie...He-111s cause Stalin to write a memo..."MiG-3 is needed by PVO more than bread, this is my last warning" or something like that lol.

aha..so only 3U had this kind of problem. But the others Mig models haven't enought firepower for me..I try to only use the 2xShVAK guns because with the others loadouts I still really suck during a combat http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif
But the incredible manouvrability at low speed helped me a lot during Mig vs. BF dogfights.

Ah, I love the MiG. Its my favourite early war plane. It just looks so **** cool, and it has laser-beam guns, to boot!

Interesting info in that link on a radial engine "variant" that Mikoyan toyed with: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/i-211.html.

I recently made and online dogfight with VF101 guys and the Mig3U was te only plane that gave me the opportunity to shoot down a FW190.
Its incredible manouvrable and a stable fire platform. Its true that the 2xshVAK arent the most impressive firepower of the sim...but their 20mm are enought with it's speed and manouvrability. And for me that never take part in a serious dogfight, shootign down a FW and been hunted by a 262 its an enormous miracle! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd put -3U against Fw-Dora or 109Z. Otherwise, use the normal MiG-3s for anything before 1943. I also suggest trying -3AM38 at low level...its a screamer, and the fastest plane in 1941 to early 1942 at sea level.

Khem...last post on the page (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/8371080943/p/24), khem sixth post from bottom (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/8371080943/p/25) khem...

When MiG-3U was designed and produced the AM-35 engine was already out of production, so they build "new" AM-35s using parts form AM-38, which made the "new" AM-35 heavier than original and kinda troublesome.

will try those...but without the shVAK it's really difficult for me to win a dogfight http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif ...i need big cal.

Midland Publishing have released a really good series of books on the major Soviet fighters of Forgotten Battles. Check out 'Mikoyan's Piston-Engined Fighters' by Yefim Gordon and Keith Dexter. I bought it a couple of weeks ago at discount price from Amazon and strongly recomend it.

Are there some usefull tactics for the U or a 2xshVAK? I try alway to have the altitude advantage, but this isn't always possible, so i try to use the low speed manouvrability of the Mig to make firing me impossible ( or less easy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ). When im on my ennemy 6 it's really easy to stay in this position waiting for a good shoot. The most common defensive movements are useless against the Mig when it behind you. I can fallow my ennemy in fast climb, looping, scissor movements ..but whane the speed goes down, the advantage in the 90% of cases is mine. But meaby there are good tactics made to bring the Mig more effective.

Is there some Mig "veteran" that could give me some tips?

set your joystick curve to go to maximum 50% - and then you'll find out that the Mig-3 AM-35 outurns (at a slightly larger radius) and overtakes the bf109G - the speed wont drop below 500km/h. You are limited to high speed TnB though - the wings break off easily in dives..
IMHO the mig-3 is the best looking fighter plane in WW2. Pitty that looks dont necessarily translate into performance http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

MiG-3U is awesome performing aircraft. I was flying it few days ago in open server versus all aircraft (Yak-3, Bf-109G6-AS/G10/K4, LA-7, P-38 etc.). And I had good positive k/d ratio http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.
