i think i have somehow increased the magnification of the standard view from the ckpt of the F4F. when i started the cactus diaries cmpn (which i highly recomend), i had a more wide angle view (i think) where i could see some of hte instruments, and i distinctly remember being able to see the canopy close.

suddenly i wound up wiht the magnified view here...this is straight from F1....no moving of the mouse, nadda. what i need to know is:

1. How did i do this?

2.How do i fix it, as in go back to the normal view? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

i like hte idea of being able to magnify this, but i cant find any command that does this. i tried the increase sight distance thingy, but that had no effect. i know i should know this, but alas, i do not. thank you....

Assign a button or key for "toggle views" and do the same for "toggle gunsight". Play around with them so you can see what they do.

did you accidently hit the "Delete" key? That will cause the zoomed in view. Push the "End" key to return to "normal" view.

Best solution for a wider view, albeit the other suggested fixes do work.

Shift-F1 toggles the pilot between normal flying posture and "crouched over the gunsight" posture. You've toggled to the latter in that screenie.

You can go to your subtitles menu in the config file and edit subtitles=1 to subtitles=0 to get rid of that writing... unless of course you like it there...

well i finally figured this out....its very simple. i went into the controls menu adn carefully studied it. Like i said, when all else fails, read the bloody directions (say that last phrase with your best David Niven brit accent).Zybot pretty much had it right, but this is the difinitive solution.

'page down' is the "wide view", wich is kinda the default one i think. you see more, but cant read the instruments.

'end' is the "normaL" view, which is what i have above, and i apparently accidentally hit that (like zybot said).

'page dn' is the "gunsight" view, as in your nose resting against the thing. one thing i like about it is the fact that lyou can read all theinstruments quite well by panning around.
i saw all sorts of stuff taht actually works. now im trying to figure out what some of the instruments are that im looking at. (great-more screenshots to post). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

anyway, thse views are all very useful, and im wondering how i could fly this sim so much and not have discoverd tthis before now. im also kinda impressed that im apparently not alone in this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

now i gotta convert some more of those grab thingys to jpegs etc......man this gets complicated, but is so much fun. i thnk we are all masochists.....

thanks for all the replies....i still learned quite a bit from them. amazing what you can find in this sim when forced to look around a bit. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Actually, you still have a few things wrong. First, the normal view is the default one; you must have hit wide view by accident when you first played the game and then been stuck with it since. And then there is the zoomed view, which you described as having your nose close to the sights. In truth, your pilot's head has not moved, but his eyes have increased their magnification.

I did not use these views when I first played this game, because I did not think that they were realistic. Since then, I have realized that human eyes have both the field of vision of the wide view and the level of detail of the zoomed view (and then some!).

You can also move your pilot's head. Currently, there are only two positions for this, with some aircraft having a third available when you open your canopy.

It's all in the manual. When I first get a game, the first thing I do is read the manual. I know it seems unmanly to some, but not only does it keep you from making a fool out of yourself, but it's actually quite enjoyable.

HeHe.....I do the same thing, I spent about 2 hours reading, and re reading it, before i even installed the game.

Seems to be the major fix for justabout anything, atleast if you ask for help flying online. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

yup, like i said, when all else fails....

its just that there is so much in the manual, and in the stuff written about it, and i did spend alot of time looking for it, but the way its phrased is a bit.....confusing...sometimes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

ever count how many commands there are associated with views in the controls menu?Thats where i finally found it, but sheeesh....

i definitely mustve hit that key and been flying it ever since. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
