View Full Version : Ta-183 problem

I tried the Ta-183 earlier this morning, however I found it was really slow in both speed and accelerate. If compare with He-162D and Me-262-HGII, Ta-183 just more like a piston engine fighter even a Japanese N1K1 can fly faster than it. But anyway, how can I get the best performance with the Ta-183? I tried all those fighters at 035; does Ta-183 only goes fast when it flys high?

Here is what you do. Go into the ORR and make a post saying it should be faster. Soon, plenty of Luftwhiners will be in there to back you up with some very convincing graphs they somehow found about an aircraft that never flew, or was even built.

Hay. It worked for the 109K4! And the rest of the Luftwaffe aircraft for that matter.

Does less than 1 hour of flight time in a TA-183 equal a post on these forums? Get some more flight time in it and experiment to figure out what makes it even worth implementing into the game, or even in the luftwaffe

Make sure you have the game patched up to 4.08 (from original 4.07). The Ta183 was substantionally improved in the process.

Not sure how good it should be but I flew the campaign that came with IL246 with the 183 and its a pig. Accelerates like snail and takes an age to get to altitude. Once its trucking along its quite nice to fly.

Pretty hard to prove anything either way about its real performance as it never flew.

I've been trying the Ta-183 as well and it's just not fun to fly. I feel that it performs worse the higher you fly. I always play with engine overheat off when I fly the Ta-183 because you need to hammer this thing with 110% engine power, IMO.

And it also looses speed quickly in slight turns. Not a fun aircraft to fly. Looks cool, powerfully armed but the performance is terrible.

I realize it never flew so there is no accurate flight model of that thing.

Either ways, give me the Heinkel He-162D. Forward swept wings baby! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

the Ta-183 is a heavy plane with not must thrust.
after start, dont climb not before you rached at last 400km/h IAS.
to accelearate , dive a little bit.

its a little bit like flying the Go229 - but if you are at speed , it will be realy fast.

i have no proplem to fly at 900km/h TAS at Sealevel on the crimea map wih the Tank - show me the N1K2-J that is able to do the same http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

sure, espacially late, uch power piston engines fighters can out accelerate these early jets - AFAIK that is hostorical correct...........

and you you want fly fast, leave Rockets at home ! rockets in game have a very huge drag.... its like having a brakechute behind your plane http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

i find the 4.08 Ta-183 very ok ! thinking about that it is fantasy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The TA is probably one of the best jets in the game. You just have to be patient. Handle it like it's precedessors...the 190 family. It takes a while to come at speed and alt, but boy, once it is it's hard to get slow again as long you don't do any hard maneuvering. Add the X4 to it and blows away nearly anything in the sky.

This worked for the P-38, P-47, P-51 etc. , too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I did TAS +1230km/h at approx alt of 4k in shallow dive.
Tis a cr@ppy shaker. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif actually, I ve found the TA-183 to be the best Jet ingame. (Apart from the fact that its a thoroughly flawed design, but I let that slip cause I like fantasy)

It -never- overheats, even if you run the engine on full afterburner all the time (apart from when your airspeed goes below 200, then it WILL overheat), it is extremely agile at high speeds, the visibillity from the cockpit is good (apart from the FW-style ironmongery to the front), it is very resilient (I´ve never had it explode on me), it climbs well enough and it climbs -very- high. The only problem is the fuel load, and the low muzzle velocity of the MK-108s. Id much prefer six smaller guns over the four uber boomers, but eh.

Oh, and contrary to the Mig-9, the wings dont fall off at high speeds, and the engine never catches on fire or flames out when you go rough on the throttle.

Just my two cents on this.

Cheers
Fish.

Not surprising that a prop fighter was out accelerating it. Most of the early jets suffered from acceleration problems...a notable issue for the Me-262 for instance. The Ta-183 has just one engine versus the two on the Me-262 HG-II and its a pretty weighty beast so its no wonder that it takes a bit to get up to speed.

What it does seem to have the edge in is a pretty streamlined setup so once its going fast and you're not doing any hard moves then you can coast along like nobodys business.

If you really like the Ta-183 and want to get some stick time in it try my Green Hearts: 1946 campaign. Its a short mini-campaign (just 6 missions) but I had a little fun with the Ta-183 doing what it was meant to do. Its a real blast shooting down B-29/Tu-4's with relative impunity and then mixing it up with some Yak-15s and Mig-9s.
