Ubi said they had a temp fix for the 6800GT bug. Simple disabling particle effects by pressing "ctr p" is the fix.

My question is, when will that first patch come out? I wish they would release a patch with release, even if the only thing in it is that temp fix. I dont want to wait 6 months before I can use the UZO/Binocs.

I would strongly advice to wait first for SH-3 !! What your saying is basicly the same as wanting to take your car to a garage to fix it when you havent bought a car yet !!!

That better not be the fix.

Workarounds are not fixes.

Hopefully, the have been working on fixing minor problems, and there will be a Day One Patch.

Yea but what I am saying is, why not release this TEMPORARY fix for those of us with the 6800GT card on release? Why do we have to wait for the 1st "official" patch which could be months after the game is out?

well the problem is the following:

software publishers tend to minimize the number and frequence of patches in order to avoid the impression that their software is "buggy". therefore they alway collect several fixes for one patch. and this can take time because patches also need beta testing and so on...

Its a driver bug so its nvidia's fix not Ubisofts.

Which is precisely why UBI should not touch it.

Ubi wont touch it, they dont write nvidia drivers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The work around is just a way of the developer acknowledging the problem and telling people how to get around it till nvidia sort out their drivers. May already be fine with the lastest forceware?

Not trying to be a wise **** and all but......why don't you go buy a different video card, if you "know" this one is going to have possible problems running this game? I think most of you guys out there are adults with nice full-time jobs and can afford a new one, but then again I would wait till I "know" for a fact that my video card would give me problems before I went out and bought a replacement.

Again not trying to be a wise **** but instead of complaining to the development team to rush a patch, take matters into your own hands. IMHO of course.

So it must come naturally, then. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not much point in buying a different card for a simple driver bug, ATI have driver bugs also for various games. I remember waiting for some fixes for different resolution problems in FS2004 on my 9800 Pro.

These problems get fixed eventually with newer drivers and new bugs get introduced for other games http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I think you missed what I meant.

If UBI addresses the issue by adding a "workaround" for Nvidia users, Nvidia will more then likely count the issue as dealt with and not try to fix it. It's Nvidia. lol

Ah yes I see what you mean Ark, well if thats the support you get from nvidia then thats pretty poor. If this particular problem crops up in other new games I would have hoped it would be addressed quickly.

Most developers and graphics card designers seem to have pretty good relationships when it comes to sorting out problems in my opinion.
