WWII planes were the modern flying equivalent of clubs and torches. Can you imagine looking down into the clouds atop a giant vibrator, armed with only a gun? Crazy.

Real men fly kites. Fabric aircraft held together with wood, some steel tubes and wire, with no parachute, no fire extinguishers, no trim, and practically no armor.

I fly with the aid of my fine feathered friends, who join in groups of 50 to 60, and pull me from my hair and skin to yon heights above the clouds, then they drop me as I let the air rush up my skirts

Flying with a massive turbine jet behind you and several dangerous missiles under your wing don`t seem so safe to me either.
