According to the Yefim Gordon existance of IL-2T is quite dubious (author of many books about VVS ww2 airplanes). Also book "Naval Aviation in Great Patriotic War" do not mentiones any torpedo equipped IL-2.
Now that aircraft is mentioned by some accounts that it was used by 12 ShAP and 23 OShAP (Black Sea Fleet). But some historians that are dealing with this matter are extremely sceptical about this as they were unable to find any proof of any IL-2 variant that have used torpedoes. IL-2 in naval aviation used skip bombing with quite success, tho.
Also IL-2T in game has rocket launcher rails but no option for rocket loadout http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif... etc.

Not only that IL-2's that we have in game have outboard VyA/ShVAK/NS cannons and inboard MG's on all types which isn't the case with all ww2 Sturmoviks (they have been produced with inboard cannons/outboard MG's as well). And not only that outboard cannons version wasn't stable (in gunnery) as inboard cannon version.

In game there is also IL-2I airplane with main purpose of bomber interceptor. It didn't worked out well in ww2 so it wasn't used much (if at all).
Government ordered IL-2I's production in may 1943 and they failed in state tests in july/august of the same year and it was concluded that there is no point in further manufacture of this type, so aircraft was not ordered for production.

Some thoughts/infos?

I have Yefim Gorodn's IL-2 book, although I haven't looked through it in detail as yet. Will be interesting.

Sothe torpedo carrying IL2 is just a figment of Oleg' imagination, or a figment of Russia's imagination, that they just chucked about until people believed it?

possible....

It carries a torpedo. It can operate from PF carriers. It is Flyable.

Um, not quite. This thread is questioning and addressing its actual existence in real life

I do not question IL-2T existance; however a few historians did, as Y Gordon pointed out (he also didn't said it either that existed or not). He isn't sure about this case... but I have no doubt that majority here knows the truth about IL-2T http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Sorry I couldn't resist http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

However I did search a bit for any picture of IL-2 carrying torpedo but I was unable to find it (ok I didn't search for hours).

Now if anyone has IL-2T picture, post it. To prove these historians wrong http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

And I just want to point out that this thread isn't only about IL-2T, but is about other IL-2s as well.

The il-2 3M could take out any ship there is!

IL-2T? why do you need that one when there's the IL-2 3M?

It is clear that the Il-2 is a complete figment of Oleg's imagination.
