What's Tobuscus doing on that Panel? all he did was make a moderately humourous redub of 2 of the trailers, shouldn't someone at bit more important be taking that seat?

is there anywhere i can rewatch it i only saw the last 10 minutes and most of that was TOBUSCUS

AnthonyA85
08-26-2011, 07:52 PM
Just finished watching it.

The only gameplay footage they showed was the same gamescom demo footage, though Gabe did play it slightly differently and show a bit more, so that was good. But i still would have liked some new gameplay.

Also got to see Toby singing both the ACR and ACB litteral songs, that was cool, they also answered some questions (good ones too)

And Roostersrule2, it should be on the youtube channel now under "Previous events" under the Live section on the AC youtube channel

There wasn't any new SP gameplay http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Toby was great, Roger Craig Smith rocks and I actually thought most of the questions were better than usual. At least they weren't stupid crap like "is this the last AC game??". Some of the questions were just ones that the developers couldn't or didn't want to answer.

Apart from those things, this was pretty disappointing. No new gameplay, terrible camera angle and video quality throughout and little info revealed that we didn't already know. The best part was the brief moment in the demo where we saw Al Mualim being badass (right after Altaïr kills the traitor).

Yeah, I saw the Full Synch condition too. Even though this was a repeat, I'm glad they turned on some of the interface. You can see the two weapon wheels, and you have two weapon icons in the lower left. In the same place there is a little icon that says 0% at the start of the Ezio and Altaïr missions. It looked like while Ezio was getting closer to Leandros, it moved up to 100% even though Gabe violated the Full Synch condition. So I wonder what that is for. Also, as soon as Gabe killed someone you didn't see the big "Full Synch Failed" message, though that could just be because some of the interface is turned off.

The way that "transferring" a file to a computer works is that you delete the original, and what gets sent over is a copy. If it were actually possible to "transfer" your consiousness into a computer, your actual mind would be destroyed. Now, since we know that 16 still had a mind, since he was able to kill himself and write symbols on the walls. So what that tells us is that at some point, there was his imprint in the animus, and him outside it, existing simultaneously. And that means it must have been a copy, and not a transfer.

Because 16's true self died. What is in the animus is a representation of his entire self, able to react to questions exactly as 16 did, able to tell things exactly as 16 did, able to do what 16 would have done in any situation. Except in the end, it is not actually alive.

16 is dead for good, I'm afraid. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You're right. But his conscience is still very much his and he is able to read other peoples memories when they enter the animus.

This is why he's going crazy. He probably knows so much it's stupid.

One thing that I don't like is Full Sync.

Even with the ability to be able to toggle it, it just seems that by not playing through the game as it says, then I'm not completing the syncronisation for the game, and that means I can't get trophies/achievements.

I think a much more useful feature is to rename Full Sync to "Assassin's Path" and to not have it as a mandatory requirement for complete syncronisation.

You should be able to play through the mission once for the sync, but if you follow the Assassin's Path, it could unlock something exclusive for the player, like maybe something like a teaser for AC3.

I'd also like it if they kept Altair's climb speed as Ezio's but remove the Ledge and Air Assassinate (AC2 moves) from the sections he appears in, until he learns them from the Apple.

From what we see now, he's supposed to kill the Crusader with Air Assassinate, but what I thought is that from the little rooftop that Altair swings to on the pole, he could maneuver around it and find the window that Al Mualim send his pigeons though, and climb up to it/through it, before sneaking his way out of the front door and assassinating the Crusader from behind when he turns around.

One thing I did think to myself though, is that if this approach was applied, the Crusader could resist Altair's assassination attempt, say something along the lines of "If I am to die, then it shall be by the sword, and not by secrecy." before having a sword fight between the two, which would link into how Altair sheathes his sword in the memory corridor. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

It's been mentioned 1000 times.

The air assassinate was in AC1 just not as good as AC2. Altair knew how to do it. Just because it's in the codex doesn't mean he just learned it.

It's all gameplay my friend.

I'm surprised were not discussing 16 more. I mean now we know he's just a ghost in the machine and truly is dead. Can access anyones memories that have been in the animus.

One of the most interesting things is that although Altair sheathing his sword seems to indicate that he really took the most obvious path off the leap of faith and then a sword fight, the devs have allowed you to assassinate him in a different, less confrontational manner. This really shows that they're serious about less linearity. I'm quite impressed. There may even be other paths that we couldn't see that you could take to get to him.

Still, the device has begun to show it's age – and so I have been researching improvements beyond ending the need to remove one's finger to wield it. The first is the addition of a metal plate that can be used to deflect incoming blows. The other Assassins believe it is forged of a new metal – and credit me with the discovery of the formula (included on this page). It is better that they not know the truth. I have also worked with Malik to describe new methods of assassination: from on high, from ledges, and from hiding places. Basic movements, but critical nonetheless. The third and final improvement is the most simple – the provision of a second blade – identical in every way to the first. Should an Assassin ever find himself tasked with dispatching two targets, he need only time his strike in such a way that he might reach both at the same time. These blades will be limited in number since the metals with which we forge them remain difficult to obtain. I will need to think carefully about who shall be allowed to carry two... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The fact that Altair had to research these moves with Malik proves that he hadn't known about them until after Al Mualim's death.

People keep throwing around "But there's the possibilty that Altair already knew them!" but there is no evidence to back that up, and people are only relying on Ubisoft's decision to add them in in the Crusader segment to prove that.

Also, Altair could assassinate people from hanging onto a low wall, and by dropping from the edge of a building after locking onto someone. I wouldn't really say those are actual Air assassination moves, more like unintentional circumstances.

I also like how everyone took one small piece out of my comment to reply to, and yet no-one went over my statement as a whole, sidetracking what I said to make a small nitpick. It's mostly the reason why some good or plausible ideas like the ones I provided get ignored. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Actually, if you read the bolded part about researching, he's talking about how to make hidden blades that require no finger sacrifice.

And then after that he says "I have ALSO worked with Malik...", meaning that he's talking about something totally different than previously, which means he's not talking about research.

And then he says "to describe new methods of assassination" to you, you're thinking that that "new" means they have not been invented yet. But he goes on to say that they are "Basic" movements. Why would he consider them basic if he hadn't used them or known of them before? If you've never heard of something your whole life, and then you invent it, you won't just call it basic. You'll call it "simple, but brilliant", or something to that effect.

Also, even supposing that the logic I used back there is total BS, which it is not, he lists air Assassinations among the things he's working to describe, and he could do that in AC1, to a limited degree. If this is him just learning it for the first time to do it like it is in AC2, then how would that make sense? He LEARNED how to jump on someone from higher? No. Since air assassinate is included in this same bracket of moves, it must be equal to these moves in its significance.

And since it is described as being new, and we KNOW that air assassinate isn't new to Altair, we can assume that the "new" is intended to mean "new to recruits/the assassins normal learning curriculum".

And really, I don't know what you're trying to say about the AC1 air assassinate being different. Sure, it may have required you to be hanging off the side of a building, or running off the edge of a building while pressing X, but as a real-life thing, it is jumping on a person and stabbing them. And the AC2 air assassinate is just the same.

Jumping on someone from higher is not knowledge that comes with wisdom. Altair was a parkour master, he knew how high he could jump without hurting himself, and we're not assuming that the laws of AC physics shifted to allow Ezio to jump from higher, which means that air assassinates like the one Ezio did were possible for Altair to do in his time, and since we know that he knew how far he could safely fall, he must've know that he could air assassinate from the height the whole time.

It really doesn't matter what we saw him do before. There could be several explanations involving animus inconsistencies, and quite honestly, I don't care if someone doesn't like that idea. As long as the story allows for them to decide that Altair knew how to do these things at 19, then I could not give a crap about what the explanation is. I only care about actual canon mistakes, and I know of very few for AC.

#1, Alex has the right idea, #2, I think the full synch requirements were tweaked for the demo, different than what it shows on the screen, and #3, Tripwire bombs look like they have a really small radius compared to the other vid, and various camera angles and graphical things were improved and changed and added from the gamescom demo.

This shows that the game is always changing, even at this stage. I'm really looking forward to this.

The new UI looks really unobtrusive, I'm just wondering where the Health bar is, or if there will BE a health bar. Maybe the UI option for it is off?

The Combat looks a lot more fast paced, the guards moved around more and attacked more often.

Actually, what this probably means is that the demo at gamescom was played with developer hacks on. making the enemies slower, the tripmine more powerful, and such.

AND the guards had different/more "detecting you"/"Fighting you" dialogues than before!

The game is looking better every time I see it!

The way that whole death scene looked, some people have speculated that Ezio actually has some words with Leandros before he totally dies, but that it's cut out to avoid spoilers or something. Looking at it yet again, I can see how that could actually be it for Leandros. But I'm sure Ezio had enough talk with Leandros at Masyaf.

Anyways, compared to the AC1 stuff, Altair's conversation is the soul of brevity. It's also a lot less pretentiously philosophical than AC1's style of writing always made the memory corridor scenes seem to me.

And ANOTHER thing that suggests this is not the case: Altair's codex was introduced in Assassin's Creed bloodlines, along with the new assassination abilities that would exist in AC2. (bloodlines came out first)

Altair at the start of the game is shown as having all of those abilities. He does not refer to them as new, and he has not written a single codex page at that point.

And in case you missed me say it the last thousand times, I believe "New" is subjective. After all, why would he say "describe"? In fact, I think that what he might have meant was "new to being described", as in the assassins never had any guides or documentation of air, hiding spot, and ledge assassinations until he and Malik wrote/drew them. If that was not the case he really would have just said "...working with Malik to create/perfect/invent/make...".

In any case, even if that was not the intent of the writer, it was written for the PSP game, and they don't have as extensive of an editing process or as much of a collaboration with the story team for a smaller-scale game.

The team would have known they didn't want to paint themselves into a corner if they wanted to revisit Altair again, and they have either assumed that Darby Mcdevitt meant to say that Altair was just describing existing moves, or they just ASKED the bloody guy, since he's the one WRITING the games. I'm pretty sure the question of wether altair had the moves at 19 came up, and Darby was right there to tell them what he'd meant in the codex.

Guys, the person who WROTE the codex is doing Revelations' story. Lets just stop for a second and think about how dumb that makes this whole argument sound. The guy knows what he meant, and he's confirming it to us by giving the team the go-ahead to put the moves in.

Was hoping to see some new gameplay footage, and how Desmond's gameplay will work. But now that I think about Brotherhood's advertisement, Ubi only released a short video of Desmond and Lucy running through the lair of Montergonni a month or two before its release.

On a side note, I never want to hear Stargate, Ubisoft, Sparkle ever again. The time he spent singing could have been used for more questions or new gameplay.

OMG that would be fantastic if they had that option. To include full sync for those who like it and turn it off for those who don't.

Edit: the director also mentioned something about the economy in the video, acknowledging the problem in previous games where you started out with too little money and ended up with too much. Hopefully this means they're tweaking the money system as well.

The recorded video is up now, so we can rewatch it. I don't think that's a checkbox next to the Full Synch requirement, but just some kind of square icon. Although it's impossible to tell from the camera quality, so that's just my feeling. The "0%" indicator in the lower left of the screen went to 100% when Ezio opened the treasure chest and stayed there for the rest of his mission. Altaïr's stayed at 0% during his part. I wonder what that's for. Maybe it could indicate how many collectables you've found in an area.

The way I imagine it is that this isn't the first mission in the game. The first will be when Ezio is captured at Masyaf (like in the cinematic trailer) and ultimately escapes Leandros and his men. Later he finds out from Yusuf or someone else about the Masyaf Keys and bomb-crafting and goes after Leandros once again. That's why he already knows how to craft bombs in this video and doesn't look confused when he picks up the Key.

Questions was better than last night. Most important things that we find out are:

Deeper Glyph sections with deeper conspiracy theory story.

Improved clan support for MP and some kind of integration of Assassins Network in MP part of game.

Altair missions would be interesting and long enough to finish Altair story.

And if they manage there would be more Ezio skins without armor to play game with it.

So far Ubi your doing a great job. Keep up the updated game play!

Effin' FINALLY, an answer to whether or not we'll be able to remove armor. They've gotten this question from fans since AC2 and it took them this long to address it? Really?

I hope they will be able to implement the skins into the game and that they're good skins, not something ugly like the Armor of Brutus. Just give me Ezio's or Altaïr's basic outfits, without armor, as skins and I'll be happy.

Yeah, probably something along those lines. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

that's what I was hoping for. I kinda hope I'm wrong about this cause I like that version better, but Ezio does stay there then heads back out to Constantinople and only comes back to Masayaf at the end. Like the memory of Altair that we see is obviously the first one. So he must have stayed there to get that one instead of going all the way to Constantinople, not get any of the keys, then go back to Masayaf to get the first key...doesn't make much sense. Then again, his robes have the constantinople guild assassin's crest and it looked like he used the hookblade.

So here's http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif to hoping that I'm wrong.

Nice to see some decent questions answered this time round.

I'm glad the guards will be able to use bombs.

And I though the guy walking around dressed as Altair was a nice touch.

The bomb question was mine!

I wasn't paying much attention when he was trying to say my name, but then I realized that he was talking about me! I have no idea how that comment got found, the live stream comments buried it in seconds!

EDIT: <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">The way I imagine it is that this isn't the first mission in the game. Several factors make this unlikely. #1, the devs SAY it's the first level. #2, the level is set up like a tutorial in the basics of stealth, limiting your free-run ability so you don't bypass the guards easily. #3, Ezio doesn't have the Hookblade yet. #4, the time of year and weather is exactly the same. Ubisoft talks a lot about progression, and I think that they'll bother to make the weather look different, or it to have changed seasons, by the time Ezio gets back. Even if he goes back at the same time 3 years from then, I think that they'll make it look different somehow.

I didn't check to see how this got started, but if you're talking about how the E3 demo commentary said it took place half-way through the game and Ezio had to go get the last key from a templar stronghold, then I would assume that since Ezio got one from Leandros at Masyaf, and the other four were hidden in each district, that the last of the district keys was taken by Templars before Ezio could get to it, which is why he has to get it from a stronghold.

Did they say first level or first sequence? First sequence would be logical. In the first level of the sequene Ezio gets captured and escapes (like we saw him crashing down through a wooden structure in the gameplay trailer after leaping from the Masyaf tower). He either hangs around in Masyaf for a while where he meets another assassin who tells him about Leandros' key and bomb-crafting, or he travels to Constantinople in between for reasons as yet unknown and learns about those things there. It makes more sense for him to remain in Masyaf for the whole sequence though, so that's what I'm expecting. Either way, this could still be one of the early missions in the game, just not THE first. The bomb-crafting system looks much too complex to just learn on the fly as soon as you bump into the first box like Ezio does in this demo. There has to be a point earlier in the game where you learn the basics.

I definately agree that the bomb tutorial must've happened earlier. But yes, they've said this was the first sequence, and they've also said that before doing anything else, Ezio goes to Masyaf. The game starts immediately with him going to Masyaf, and almost there. So he can't have gone to constantinople first. I think that the memory before this one, which begins with the fight and Leandros trying to hang him, and ends with the Carriage chase sequence, will explain how he knows about the seals, and I think that bomb-crafting will be introduced before he gets to Masyaf.

Since the Assassins appear to have some influence in the villages, I find it likely that Ezio meets with an Assassin responsible for some of said influence, who gives him his first bombs and the mechanic is introduced.

Has it already been answered why Altair didn't have an middle-eastern accent in the first game? Why does he have one now?

Thankyou!

P.S Thanks alot to the team(s) that created AC:R , can't wait till it comes out! &lt;3

Yeah that was a good questions actually but I get this feeling, and maybe I'm being pessimistic, but did anyone else get the feeling that he was only referring to the guard throwing the bomb in the cut scene so he wouldn't have to say that the regular guards don't actually throw bombs? It just looks like he didn't want to have to say no and then he thought oh wait that cut scene guard did so I can say yes and not be technically lying. I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm pretty sure Gabe was just confirming the guards will actually use bombs in the game. He had kind of a "duh?" look on his face when he read the question. If the guards are able to use bombs in cut scenes, it wouldn't make sense for them not to be able to use them in-game.
